Fair enough, but if I put the time in which I'm prepared to do and others too there's no reason why this won't work (he says)DZA wrote:Where in that sentence did i say anything about "bad idea" ?

Looks like i said idea.
Make of list of things you need for this to turn into reality

dza speaks some truth
ideas like this tend to fall apart after a few weeks. Not that that's going to happen, it's just a possibility we need to be aware of. It sucks to put a lot of work into something and watch it go to waste quickly.
I think the two big things crucial to keeping it going are
- Exclusive content
- A team of committed, dedicated people to produce content on a consistent basis

The basic fundamentals would be:nitz wrote:jaydot wrote:Fair enough, but if I put the time in which I'm prepared to do and others too there's no reason why this won't work (he says)DZA wrote:Where in that sentence did i say anything about "bad idea" ?

-regular, fresh content, which I think we can get if we put our heads together-(this is afterall a transient industry, something new is coming up all the time).
-Regular contributors-which I think we can get if enough people want to be involved and are dedicated enough
-A regular readership, which I think we can get also.
So the basics are there it's just a case of making the first moves. I'll get a few PMs pinged off before this weekend and see what I can come up with.

Yeah, a name would be mighty useful.Phigure wrote:+ a name
and a domain to match

I really can't think of anything catchy to potentially call it.... I think we should keep it simple.
http://www.dubstepforumblog.com or something is fine in my opinion.

yay.. a job for me!!jaydot wrote: -A regular readership, which I think we can get also.

Edit: dubstepforumblog(com) seems too long
go with something like dsfblog(com)
Re: The DSF blog?
yup, I just have to register a domain and point it to my hosting service's nameservers.jaydot wrote:Yeah, a name would be mighty useful.Phigure wrote:+ a name

dubstepforumblog.com would be just fine, dsfblog.com is another option. or both.
Re: The DSF blog?
DSFblog.com is definitely a good call. What sort of designs/colour schemes etc would be good... do we use the exisiting logo, or do we create another one?
Phigure, what do you think? You're the design geezer.

i'll start working on some rough designs
i'm somewhat hesitant to stick too much time into this (ie, actually coding it) before i can be sure that there's some people who are genuinely committed
i'm thinking a modification of the current logo. which happens to be convenient since I already recreated the logo in a vector form for the wallpapers in my signature.
Re: The DSF blog?
Well I'm definitely on board, anyone else who is genuinely willing to give your time to this say aye.

Re: The DSF blog?
i doubt the admins will like this idea (using the dsf name for a blog)
.... but there's no harm starting a dubstep blog run by people from the forum.
