Okay, so i waited like 2 weeks to get a midi cable from ebay.
cgi.ebay.ca/USB-MIDI-Keyboard-Interface...-/370148058682 (the cable looks identical to this one).
The instructions say it (the midi cable) has built in driver plug and play capability, so i hook up the in and out plugs to the in and out midi ports in my korg microsynth, then connect to computer via usb. windows identifies the hardware as a midi device, give me the "your new hardware is ready for use" bubble. golden.
So i boot up fruity loops, scan for midi hardware. The output window shows the device, the input window show the device. I enabled the device below input window, (listed as generic controller).
What i would like to do (for starters), is to be able to load an instrument (massive, sytrus) and have the keys played on the korg, sound the notes for these instruments
On the korg manual, it tells you to set the output(sic) (for midi settings) off, and this makes it so the korg doesn't make its own noises anymore. i set the channel to 1, there is no 0 or universal option.
so i do this.... and nothing. no audio, no indicator light on fruity loops saying its registering the midi signal. the midi cable also doesn't blink with key presses which i'm told it should do.
here's what i have tried.
-enabling/diabling master output for the new output on the item that shows up when usb is connected
-setting the channel connection dial in the output options to match korg with #1
-rebooting every which way, computer off, device disconnected, fruity loops off and on, rescan.
-it does show the item when it is plugged in and out, but activating them does nothing.
There seems to be an issue from the midi signals being sent, fruity loops knows its connected, but doesn't seem to get it to make noise. it is clear i am doing something wrong, but it seems to be beyond the standard issues with this.
Any help would be appreciated
Korg Microsynth + Fruity Loops 8 = MIDI Trouble.
