Wierd init. We had them down to Noir in Bristol last November, and they all came down cos, in Bandit's own words, "bookings have been a little thin in the ground for them".UFO over easy wrote:Weird to see everyone talking about Slaughter Mob in this thread - considering their influence, they seem to be the group that haven't really delivered in this new phase of dubstep, release wise anyway. Don't see them on flyers much these days either. Wonder why that is...
On the nite, Paradox was doin a live PA in the Main Room, which meant the 2nd Room was pretty dead while SLT were playing. That was a shame, cos they played a 2 hr set of the most fucked up, broken techno-type dubstep I've ever heard. Seriously one of the maddest sets of any genre of music I've ever heard.

That's excellent to hear! I'm sure we'll be hearing more from 'em again soon enough..ThinKing wrote:they played a 2 hr set of the most fucked up, broken techno-type dubstep I've ever heard. Seriously one of the maddest sets of any genre of music I've ever heard.
Although, maybe that whole cross genre thing makes it difficult for them to appeal to a specific crowd..
I think it's just becuase they haven't had any high-profile releases for a while, and they no longer seem to be residents @ Fwd>>.
They were doin really well a coupla years back, when they had the 12" out on Soulja, the 12" on Hot Flush, and the plate on the Grime LP, but since then their release schedule has been limited to a couple of first releases on new labels, which I think has kept them out of the spotlight for a while.

I think I don't know about that Artwork tune...Blackdown wrote:are we talking about two different tunes:
Artwork: The Soul
and
'Mind, Body, Soul' by Steve Gurley (under an alias...)
The Artwork tune was the FWD anthem
Did it got a release?
BTW do you know the alias of Steve Gurley on that tune 'Mind, Body, Soul'?
Peace
jeez conspira never heard of websearch?
Lee John - Your Mind, Body & Soul (Steve Gurley Mix)
Artwork 'The Soul' came out on a white label - probably because the acapella comes from a house/techno tune.

I got confused with the Steve Gurley cut with Lee John
Safe
And SLT are my favourites- I idolised them as a yout.
I heard Q on the radio the other day and he had some fuckin deep riddims on him, im sure most of them were by the Mob.
They're still my favourites maan, no one's licked the place down like them.
DMZ are frontin on them, Forward are frontin on them. But still- they'll always be there- them man are deep on this music.
All the lack of appearances could be coz they got family to take care of but I dunno

I really loved FWD when I first came across it, just the decent side of garage & more besides without all the embarrassingly bad stuff that seemed to be gettin worse an worse.
This has made me think of tracks Ive not heard in ages;
When I think of FWD in the Velvet Rooms (and very fondly too) I think of:
Wales/Wobble (not sure which its called) - (and am I right thinking it was by twisted individual?)
Ramp (of course)
Cover Me (ElB)
'snakecharmer' (or was that plastic people time already?)
jeez and all the Bingo stuff!! 'Hello' and all them - and all those trainer tracks (were they zinc aswell?)
Zed Bias was top quality always;
- and a big memory from down there is seeing SLT smash it the first of many times. When they're on top form their sets are way out from anyone else.
