Sorry to keep going a little bit off topic, but i think its a waste to start a new thread about one little question, so bassicaly ive done a much better mixdown on my track, it doesnt clip and all the levels are pretty good, but now when i mixdown the track its really quiet overall compared to other songs in my itunes, ive got the master volume on fl, and the master volume pretty much at the top, and all the different channels at various volumes, but its just to quiet ! any tips ?

@-boring:I feel like there is a little too much going on when this track starts..good start though...
@renegadex:Like this track...maybe clean it up a very little so the sounds maybe bounce a little more of the kick...
@ogunslinger:i like this one mate..i like that slashing sound on some of the snares...very sick...ninja like...the wobbles kinda pan too much though...they kinda cut out a little on the pan..but SICK TRACK
@Matthew B:ALWAYS a fan of drumstep...kinda jealous actually..haha..been working on a drumstep track but cant get the sounds i want so i keep trashin it...on the right path for sure mate.
@Noonyez:Been diggin the darker sound of things myself. The sounds all come through very well...maybe beef up the kick a tad so it hits me were it counts...
@Remokari:Welcome...you are the right path..maybe make the sounds that come in around 2:10 or so a little more less high pitched..kinda squeals a little...UNLESS thats what you were going for...

well i hate to do it because i've been holding these sounds back, but i just started this one earlier today...DEF WIP...going to be another evil one though...FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!

Any help greatly appreciated :)
On my last mixdown I routed all my percussion channels after EQing them to a send channel, and compressed the shit out of it. It's my best sounding thing yet (I'm still really new though). I don't know if this is real advice as it's just something I tried that seemed to sound good to me, I don't know if it's common practice in production or whatever. I'm still learning about compression & don't know much. I'll listen to your track and tell you more maybe.

this isn't a good idea.. it's far better to tastefully compress, EQ and level each hit properly - get it right on this level and umbrella compression won't be necessary.
Well I've been told the opposite, so y'know... take nothing as fact. It CAN help "glue" it together. Might not want to over do it, 'cos you want percussion to sorta' "dance" a bit. Vary the velocity/volume of the hits, as well.
yeah well that may be the case, although i don't do it, but my problem was with "compressing the shit out of it", and i still think it's better practise to get it sounding as good and together as you can make it on an individual level. if you want to apply a little compression to the whole beat afterwards that may be a good thing, i dunno.

levels and sample choices are the most importent imo and things that have a big dynamic range need to be compressed but don't overdo it

this is the second part of smoothy wich is harder then the first part
both are gonna be merged together into one track

Soundcloud

different sound on this one, I think it needs stronger clap/snare
Love the high freq sounding tight could benefit from a bit of a beatdown section i reckon :)
thx, but what do you mean with beatdown section? I'm not english so sometimes I don't understand everything:p

@ TheBreadMan

no not the brutal electro preset plz:(....the bongo's in the beginning sound really plastic and electronic, that is mostly because there is no velocity? and somehow the beat drops a bit strange....
not really my thing, and if your gonna use THE BRUTAL ELECTRO plz modify it to your own :)

middle part sounds indeed better, though I still think your clap could use a layer with a kick or snare with some low thumb....cuz now it feels like your clap is floating in the track

What i mean by beatdown section is when u carry on the same feel with a drum beat that has less kicks (1 to 2 per bar usually) and less cymbals (usually just crashes) just a thought anyway for extra brutality

@-boring you got some funky jungle like rhythm going on over there with what sounds like a really wet grungy zipper synth believe it or not it kinda relaxes me i like it other then the repetitiveness good work keep working on it

@TheBreadMan i feel like the drop should've been bigger but you've basically made a perfect replica synth of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDR1waTB0gU learn how to use that synth to your advantage!

@Craggle Sounds good, beginning synths sounds similar to some of the songs on ruskos OMG album.

@goldorack not sure what you were aiming for here, track feels kinda dull, try using different notes so it doesn't sound so stale keep workin on it you have a good drum line

@dav.id you have good sounding solid bridge of a song right there haha throw a intro and outro and you'll have a song!

@Remokari i think your in the wrong thread because you have a full song :P what your missing is a main synth and some highs because you have a crap load of rhythms in there.

@Noonyez i think that wip belongs in a horror alien movie and im really feeling that ending finish that track and put some fucked up cypress hill vocals in it or something!!

@ogunslinger i think you need a new drum kick sample and i think a little more high hats and crashes would bring more depth to your song other than that you have synth that cuts nicely like a knife good work keep it up

P.S. remember provide feedback on 3 tunes before you post plz

and here's an update of my WIP, if you can comment on soundcloud in case i miss it on here :D

Glitchy... 8bit-y... dubstep? not a real track so I'm really not looking for criticism. It's more of a guilty pleasure to be shared with anyone who may also have one. :P

okay, well here is what i had PRIOR to finally using my Massive VST:
I had been making this sound using resampling so i can just layer sounds and then tweak them, a lot more harder to do than massive crap, but i feel a lot more unique. You guys be the judge:Massive or No Massive:
Top one is with Massive:

this one is with my own sound i've created:

@goldorak nice use of the vocal sample.. very well sequenced I like the drop... nice and full... if it were me id add some texture to the mid range of that wabble that comes in.. run thru distortion or something... the sub bass is spot on tho!! safe

@Krave i like the buildup in the tune and also the use of the minor tonality right before the drop.. i feel as tho after the drop its a bit repetitive itd be cool to change it up with some random drops or transitions, add nother layar of hats or something.. but thats jus me..

@Remokari check ur soundcloud =)

TheBreadMan Vary the velocity of those bongo hits, man.. get 'em flowing. Picture how a guy playing them will hot them harder and softer...

dav.id Solid stuff, man... I really like the snare. Not so keen on the Massive-style performer aspect, but each to their own although It's by no mean bad. Strings really give it a touch of sophistication

Krave Not so much into house-style beats, but I'm sure it'd go down well in a club environment, man... The keys are sweet though and the reverb on the synth gives it great depth

I'm stuck in a rut and can't seem to finish anything off recently, so I thought I'd play about resapling bass, etc...
Proper stuck on something to fill it out though. Not even sure if it's worth bothering with as it's so generic, but it's been interesting to try out some stuff...
Really needs something like a metalic-y pad sound, I reckon...

JemGrover - im really feeling this proper headnodder, only thing id add is a kick snare kick snare bit in there if that makes sense kick on 1234 snare on 2 & 4 just for a bar may sound like a shit idea but sometimes it works!!

wabble - dirty as hel loving the intro and that bass is devine :) loving the feel of the track its deffo missing something though cant quite put my finger on it, but im sure te finish track will match the potential shown here brilliant stuff

tebreadman - feeling the top 1 more personally, feels like the second one is same old same old not that it aint good which it is but in my opinion i feel ive heard thart sorta stuff so many times before. liking the bass on the 1st one and the sample is jokes haha had me creasing proper enjoyable to listen to nice 1

here's mine its a remix of drop the world by eminem and lil wayne.

dunno what you lot will think of it and im aware it needs a bit of work but hey its a wip afterall suggestions and feedback are welcome and will be replicated :)
