Same. Although I think it was a while before 'dubstep' really came about but for me that was certainly the roots of my interest plus a naturally curiosity in anything fresh sounding.kernelcoremode wrote:rephlex grime comp.. mindblowing shit

YES. Oh gosh Scuba is so underrated! Guy has so much talent and is just so unique musically. I'm amazed that I overlooked his music for a while lol.Arek wrote:After that was Scuba. Scuba blew me away.

Seeing Skream Benga Joker and Zomby in the same week really sealed the deal for me

Last.fm. I like to just search around and find new music and read up etc and stumbled across Skream but wasn't to keen and then I listened to Hatcha and Youngsta on Dubstep Allstars Vol. 4 and since then my daily life has had dose of dubstep.

Re: What got you into dubstep?
at first, there was curiousity, i listened to grime and minimalistic dubstep. found it quite good and original.
then, i discovered Subswara, an amazing crew with world music influences that completely fit with dubstep: they just changed my vision of music.
and now ... i'm in a glitchhop/uptempo dubstep feeling

2008 when i went dmz. i loved midnight request line and anti war dub when they dropped in 05 and followed the scene on and off but going dmz gave me the fucking bug. however i recently started producing and when i listen to certain tunes now it's like i'm rediscovering dubstep all over again, its a whole new level.

When I got booked to play a Ghetto Tech set in Seattle the homie took me to this Dubstep night DownTown and the vibe was insane.
The next day I heard RumbleJunkie's Dope Angel and I was sold.

Re: What got you into dubstep?
A couple of my homeys and I did two capsules of 2C-E and rode around at night near the beach.
One of them put in a Skorn CD (if you haven't heard Skorn I can't really explain it) and turned it all the way up. Never heard or felt anything like even remotely like that.
Changed the way I hear music and I'll never forget that night.
Been exploring the different flavors of dubstep ever since.

Re: What got you into dubstep?
Well, I had just got home from work at around 2 am. So i got online. I was browsing when i saw someone mention a live show going on. It was Dwel The Bass Theory. I've never heard of Dubstep before, but I love bass so I listened in and fell in love.

Nights at The Black Swan in Bristol,The Warrior Dubz compilation, The Bug, Night Vision by Distance, Fabric 37, Techtonic Plates 1 and 2.
Then Punch Drunk Records, Skream, Pinch, Burial, Reso and Boxcutter.
Now I've gone a bit Shackleton, T++ and Monolake: back to my more Techno/Electronic roots.

Re: What got you into dubstep?
Sadly I got into dubstep through borgore a few months back but I'm glad that I did because listening to borgore made me dig deeper and deeper into the genre and now thanks to this forum I have found some really great tracks, but the first dubstep artist that got me into the roots was Loefah with the song Disko Rekah.
