maybe about the title first? I think it stands for more than just one thing. I think you can pretty much apply it to pretty much every aspect or element in the film

the main character is named Dr Harford. Harford is code for Harrison Ford who is symbolic of the type of douchebag rich person without a clue that kubrick despised. lotsa cool shit in that movie.

maybe the best closing line of any movie?
Alice Harford: I do love you and you know there is something very important we need to do as soon as possible.
Dr. Bill Harford: What's that?
Alice Harford: Fuck.

the shining has tons of mad symbolism

not so much masonic or anything but like direct usage of words and names

is this movie the Kubrick litmus test? it's definitely a love/hate affair. i think it's brilliantly patient, as are all his other films, but also perhaps a bit more mature than his sci-fi/horror ventures. the bedroom scene where cruise and kidman start fighting is so true to life.

yeah.

I can also relate to the stoned conversation, it's really well done :D

anyways I found this
http://kentroversypapers.blogspot.com/2 ... olism.html

this guy goes into detail about most of the symbols in the movie and explains/links them sometimes to Kubrick's life and his death; yes he also believes his death wasn't natural.

I guess Kubrick pissed them off just a little too much with that last movie :D

in the newly constructed English suburban town of Milton Keynes, which is nestled in the Chiltern Hills west of London, there are a pair of statues that feature one of the masks from this film. An identical pair of these statues are down the road a bit from the Waitrose Supermarket in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England, UK. The photo below shows this statue juxtaposed with the same mask as seen in the film. Incidentally, the largest landowners in Buckinghamshire, where these EWS statues can be found, are the Rothschild family, one of the 13 Illuminati bloodlines that appear to control the direction of the entire planet.

hard to explain in a few words. and even if we tried so it wouldn't be as fun to watch. Also stop reading the thread and go see the movie, before we spoil it for you :D
