Post by treasondub » Fri Aug 20, 2010 2:43 am

i have been searching around for a good acapella site for a while now,
and so far acappellas4u.co.uk is probably the best one i have seen around.
but it still doesnt have as many songs as i thought it would have,
does anyone know of a awesome acappella site?

Cant' really talk about sites what host acapellas here, nor post any, due to copyright laws.

A lot of songs what have acapellas are pop songs and hiphop songs because they either release an acapella or an instrumental.. You can find out how to make DIY acapellas via youtube/google.

@budsteq
yeah man i do that alot, but i couldnt find the songs im after. i guess there are just none for those songs at the moment.

@lege
sorry man i didnt know about the copyright stuff, its so annoying but aye, whenever i pick a sound from the reason soundbank or some other refill, or grab an acapella, im always shitting my pants waiting for some one to throw me in the slammer haha.
and i looked on a couple of youtube vids but they are all abit half arsed, i just wanted to see if any of the pros on here had a nice little way of making their own.

ps. lege, do you know what the copyright issues are with refills and instruments? if someone hears one of my tracks, and go "AYE! I MADE THAT SYNTH *&$^#*@" do you reckon they would hit me up?
i dont want to start a crazy copyright post.. im sure there have been many heated ones in the forum before.
i just wanted to know cause i dont want to cross any lines, you know. like im just having fun making tunes aye, but i dont want to step on anyones toes.

Chill out man. You won't get locked up. Nobody will ever care. Unless you cash in big time. I hope you do :D

Hm, well, don't people make refills specifically for other people to use? Unless you're talking about (1) a private refill that was never distributed or even sold to the public; or (2) a refill which itself uses unlicensed samples illegitimately. Otherwise, it should be fine.

The Reason Factory Soundbank in particular is 100% fine for you to use too--assuming you own a legit copy of Reason. :mrgreen: (Not like there's any way they can tell if you don't, though.)

Lastly, I'm definitely not a lawyer or legal expert, but as far as I know you won't be thrown in jail just for using unlicensed sounds and samples. What they'll do first is send you a DCMA take-down notice (that is, you must stop distributing the music that contains that sound, and probably destroy any copies of it). If you don't comply with that, then they may try to take you to court. (Of course, if you don't go to court or pay any fines that are awarded, THEN you will probably go to jail :P.)

Meh you will usually get a warning first even if you start to cash in, so plenty of oppurtunity to remove it before you get fined!
