I didn't switch straight from d&b to dubstep. I listened to jungle / d&b all the time betweem '94 and '98, then got bored of it and got back into more far out electronica, plus a bit of UK Garage (with my missus).
Then one day (circa 2005), Krys Forensics sent me a dubstep mix and I was forced to go out and buy the Vex'd album. Never looked back!
I still like jungle, but I like it ruff rather than heavily produced.

was pretty much strictly into jungle from 1996 to 2005 then picked up on what dubstep was
i did like 2-step (or whatever) a lot when it was big in late 90's though
