Hmmm, I don't even know if there is (are) a right one(s). Any reason with some emotional backing will do, even if it is to make money. Personally that isn't why I make music, but if a song has a point - a direction, it's invariably better in my opinion.Phigure wrote:* doing it for the right reason(s)green plan wrote:Doing it for a reason.

well personally i think that if one is just making music for money/fame, one shouldn't even bothergreen plan wrote:Hmmm, I don't even know if there is (are) a right one(s). Why not? If thats how they precieve music, as a way to make money and they're making money, then good luck to them, they're following their dreams! That in itself is quite respectable, it might not be part of your moral fibre but everyone who follows a dream, be it to be rich or to be famous or to do what they are passionate about for a living is a-okay in my book!

well that's quite alright, i was talking about a scenario in which they do it strictly for money and/or fame, without being passionate about it. there's nothing wrong with loving to make music and making some money off of itlegend4ry wrote:Phigure wrote:well personally i think that if one is just making music for money/fame, one shouldn't even bothergreen plan wrote:Hmmm, I don't even know if there is (are) a right one(s). Yeah think we're arguing the different sides of the same coin here. Passion/emotion is all I want in music, whether it be passion for money or anything else. Just some actual individual thought and effort is nice for a change. Doing it because you want to not because you thought you should.

when you can hear the love, time and effort that someone has poured into their tunes, thats what makes them great imo

A great producer is chasing his own vision. A good producer is chasing the vision of someone else.

Surely everyones vision is a sparse copy of someone elses.jobbanaught wrote:A great producer is chasing his own vision. A good producer is chasing the vision of someone else.

Why do you think so? Of course everyone is influenced by others, but i think creating something great is always linked to doing something personal and unique. Dunno if i make myself very clear, its hard to explain...

Is that really that common?Hurtdeer wrote:a great producer makes me feel like i'm on drugs while listening to his music sober
Then again my mind says drugs = psytrance or disco house.
You liked Taiko Riddim... did that make you feel like you were on drugs? It makes me feel like this is time for a tribal ceremony, not drugs...
