Milestones to me are a step up in production quality, tunes that are a cut above all tunes that I've previously produced, either because I've stumbled across/worked for a new production technique that works just the way I want it to or that I've managed to throw together a few sounds that just work really well for me, the amount of people that view and comment on them (whether they are flattering or not) isn't really relevant to whether I would regard it as a milestone, it's more of the feeling of achievement after I've finished it.
2 contrasting examples I suppose would be 'Stonehead', which was my first dubstep tune and I just had too much darkness to get out from producing melodic electro house for a while, that tune just flew out of me and I was really happy with it once finished, which went down pretty well with listeners too as I suppose at the time it was pretty fresh, and 'Shut The Fuck Up', which I spent quite a lot of hours on trying to make sure everything sounding nice and tbh struggled to get to the sound I was going for but persevered until I finally got there, it didn't get a response like 'Stonehead' did, most probably because it's not that different from other tunes out there, but personally I was very satisfied once it was finished. They're both up there as milestones for me
