LDN - Chew The Fat! 13th Birthday - Foamo, Warrior One
Chew the Fat's 13th Birthday // Saturday 4th September // 2300 – 0600 // Cable
Thirteen long years of Fat parties. Born in South London, raised in West Central, now taken to the Bridge, Chew The Fat has reached its teens and remained as musically ahead of the curve as ever it was. They mark the date on Saturday 4 September with a two room tearout that wears its stylistic diversity on its sleeve. Room One is headed up by Gallic prodigy Surkin – acid electro with a little French flair, Bristol’s king of womp Redlight, and a bona fide UK chart topping outfit, Yolanda Be Cool. Over in Room Two, Bullet Train Records take charge. Bullet Train is headed up by Marco Del Horno, whose Rinse show is as likely to give an airing to Levon Vincent as is to Redlight, so expect everything from deep house to devastating dubstep when he’s joined by Warrior One and Last Japan.
Room 1: Surkin, Yolanda Be Cool, Redlight, Foamo, Tony Senghore, Purpl Pop (Live), JP
Room 2: Bulletrain Records feat. Marco del Horno, Last Japan, Warrior One, The Living Graham Bond

Remixer to the likes of Brodinski, Major Lazer and Miike Snow, Tony Senghore first came to our attention as producer of ‘If You Came Here’, a Chew The Fat! dancefloor staple. He brings you this fantastic mix, number 12 in our Fat! Club mix series. We’re happy to announce that he will be playing alongside Surkin at Chew The Fat! 13th Birthday Party at Cable in September.

INTERVIEW: YOLANDA BE COOL

Yolanda Be Cool recently hit the big time when their single ‘We No Speak Americano’, previously released on their own Sweat It Out imprint, reached number one in more than 10 countries. We caught up with the Australian duo ahead of their appearance at our 13th birthday party…
We’re really excited that you’ll be playing at our 13th birthday party. We think it’s a pretty special line-up, including some of our favourite artists. Can we expect any special birthday surprises (musical or otherwise!) from yourself?
Hey, yes we are really excited to be coming to play… in Australia it’s almost a festival line-up. In terms of surprises I guess it wouldn’t be a surprise if we told you but musically we will definitely have some new stuff so unless someone has hacked our computer beforehand that should be a surprise!
It’s your birthday party. Who would be playing?
Would probably like to have 3 rooms, one hip hop and one house and then maybe a performance room. So for the hip hop room, basically all the legends, dead or alive. Biggie would obviously close that room. In the house room, couldn’t really go past Ricardo Villalobos as headliner there and then in the performance room Jim Morrison would be reciting poetry and wailing around.
Money no object… what would you ask for?
Well we were just lucky enough to have a day off in Tenerife and got to have one hour just to ourselves in the world’s largest wavepool. Apparently it cost 45 million so would be pretty keen to have one of those in the back yard.
Favourite party game?
Would have to be spin the bottle.
How old were you when you starting producing / DJing?
10 years younger than we are now…
What is next for Yolanda Be Cool?
Well, we are on an extended tour round Europe at the moment which is taking up a lot of our time but we have some really cool collabs planned for while we are over here. We are also working on a follow up to ’We No Speak Americano’ with our main man DCUP and a solo EP for our label Sweat It Out which will be a little weirder perhaps than the collabs. Also heading off to Brazil and Latin America in October so definitely working on the frequent flyers.
Where will you be in 13 years time?
Hopefully still doing what we love and loving doing that. Whether that means hanging out with kids in clubs or our own kids??? We guess time will tell.
In 13 years time apart from your relatives, do you think anyone else will know who you are?!
Hopefully our friends will ahahah. If u mean as artists, not sure. Hopefully people will remember our music in some way, if only because they hooked up with their first girlfriend or something while we were playing.
What’s your most vivid teenage memory?
Definitely the peach pit.
Any final words for wisdom for us as we become a teenager?
Stay in school.
Thanks very much. See you September 4th!
Thanks for asking us to your party… we are tres excited.

Chew The Fat! 13 Tracks for 13 Years
Soundcloud
13 years since founder Paul ‘Trouble' Arnold started his weekly party at The Bug Bar in the crypt of St. Matthew’s Church, Brixton Chew The Fat! remains synonymous with fresh parties, cutting edge music and good, honest, unpretentious fun. Our Birthday Party is THIS Saturday! Interview: PURPL PoP
INTERVIEW: PURPL PoP

Swedish duo PURPL PoP caused a stir with the video for their debut single ‘The Way’. This Saturday September 4th they make their UK debut at our 13th birthday party. We caught up with the Swedish duo…
We’re really excited that you’ll be playing at our 13th birthday party. We think it’s a pretty special line-up, including some of our favourite artists. Can we expect any special birthday surprises (musical or otherwise!) from yourself?
It’s gonna be a great night with one of the best line ups I’ve seen in a long time since we are in it, jokes aside it’s gonna be big. Were from Sweden but know of Chew The Fats influence in pioneering new sounds so it’s great that something so real and honest can last and get bigger and better year after year, big up! In terms of birthday gifts…we can cut the cake if need be.
it’s your birthday party. Who would be playing?
Jamiroquai, Prince, James Brown (he will resurrect for our event), Dizzee Rascal, Daft Punk.
Money no object… what would you ask for?
State of the art music studio with like 69 rooms and like the basement of the studio is actually a beach resort, and 69 musical, female, beautiful waitresses in the studios screwing the sounds for us on our custom made purpl pop synths.
Favourite party game?
We don’t play games (terminator voice)
How old were you when you starting producing / DJing?
We both have been musically involved since a young age. Skoog was forced to start playing the flute as it was compulsory in school and Le’Andres mother sent him to private piano lessons at the toddler ages in hope that his handwriting would become more neat…it didn’t!
What is next for you? Where will you be in 13 years time?
For us it’s just about spreading the music and love all around the world, and in 13 years time we will be playing at Chew The Fats 26th birthday party.
In 13 years time apart from your relatives, do you think anyone else will know who you are?!
Doubt it!
What’s your most vivid teenage memory?
Le’Andre – Stealing ice hockey cards from a sports store and my mother letting me know that if I do it again she will personally chop of my hands.
Skoog – Rapping infront of my whole school at 14 years of age, when I was finished rapping the whole school wanted me dead.
Any final words for wisdom for us as we become a teenagers?
Use a condom!
