Not a fan of long intros?
Just wanted to see everyones opinion on song intros, which do you prefer, a long build up (1.00+) or straight into the filth (-0.30)?
BE BOLD.

There is geometry in the humming of the strings, there is music in the spacing of the spheres.

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
what is this for a retarded question, it all depends on the build up itself
if you have an epic 2 min intro and it is the fucking shit without getting bored and just skipping just before the drop well then I like a 2 min intro
if it is just 2 minuten full of kicks and snares + some delayed I just fucking skip the shit
there is no anwser to your question

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
Epic intro for epic drop, other than that keep the intros short and sweet

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
Depends who you are really, are you a listener or a DJ?
If you're a DJ it gives you a nice margin to get the mix together, if you're a listener then opt for the shorter intros.

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
as a DJ (and, in fact, as a listener) i prefer short intros in dubstep; much more flexible. I don't want to be fucking about waiting for something to drop when I could be blending and moving on.ashley wrote:Depends who you are really, are you a listener or a DJ?

I don't really play much wobble so it doesn't necessarily need to be DROP DROP DROP, double drops are a piece of piss to set up, it lets you use 3 decks a lot more, blah blah.
so yeah: 16 bars are ideal; 8 or 32 bars are OK; 2 bars is a bit of a squeak but i'll manage
Re: Not a fan of long intros?
All depends on the tune... but long drawn out intros usually mean that the focus of the tune is the drop, and I am not into big heavy drops..
I like zomby intros, like in digital flora, clipped and just dive straight into the tune...

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
If I want a shorter or longer intro I just make the intro shorter or longer in Ableton, hit save and go on with my day.

Re: Not a fan of long intros?
If youre a DJ having a long or obscure intro is not fun.
It really fucks shit up because you have to skip ahead, or start mixing your song over a minute before the drop.
fuck intros over 55 seconds
