Monitors making white noise

Post by antics » Wed Sep 01, 2010 7:40 pm

Got some KRK Rokit G2 8s about 2/3 months ago, and they are now making white noise, its not loud compared to a normal producing volume, but its audible when nothing else is on.

Is this meant to happen? Still got a warrenty, don't remember if this was always the case...

Its more than likely to do with your cables

Are the cables balanced or un-balanced? I had the same problem. I was using 1/4 in to 1/4 cables then I switched to balanced xlr and it went away.

Are they in demo mode? I know some plugin trials will periodically emit white noise.

Didn't realise people would keep replying :), points go to DZA and mickledan, it goes away when i unplug the cables. I am using 1/4' to 1.4', its not too bad for the minute so i don't think ill buy new cables...

are you using balanced or unbalanced cables (TS vs TRS) if TS invest in some TRS unless your audio interface doesn't have balanced outs

I've got TRS cables going from an Audio Kontrol 1 into balanced inputs on the back of the monitors.
