REASON 4.0: Strange LFO??? Help!
I dont get this. If you loop the first bar it gives the desired results. But if you loop the three bars, you end up with different sounding LFO parts at the begining of each bar. This has been bugging me for a while, Can anyone explain this??

btw, i used a reason drumkit just so it has some sort of minimal beat, so shush.

Yeah, I've noticed this several times when using Sync with key, which is sad. A great function but is always messed up when I use it. I still don't know if I'm doing it wrong/misunderstood something or if it's a bug.
Re: REASON 4.0: Strange LFO??? Help!
Somebody out there must know. I suddenly had a thought.. maybe its because im going off-bar, aka, using 3/16 or 1/8t, which i was on the faster bit, however, setting it to 1/16 didnt make any difference
.

Put the lfo in retrigger mode or retrig for short. Not sure what breason calls it.

yeah its called keysync on a thor I think, same difference, make sure that is turned on, green light, on the lfo you are using.
My guess is youve done that and its still happening, if so then are you using legato?
If you are using a subtractor or a malstrom then they dont have keysync and youre going to get then sounding different bar by bar if you are using odd numbered settings like 3/16 etc, or larger numbers like 6. Only way around it is to bounce as far as I know.

LFO retrigger in Reason is called 'one shot'. So press the one shot button next to the LFO you are using as your CV source and each time a new note is played, the LFO will start back from the beginning of the shape.
Btw, the Malstroms modulator section offers a wider selection of LFO shapes than Thors. Also, if you want a free cycling LFO that doesn't retrigger, use the Subtractors LFO.

/\ for anybody not using maelstrom for their lfo, take note of this.futures_untold wrote: Btw, the Malstroms modulator section offers a wider selection of LFO shapes than Thors. Also, if you want a free cycling LFO that doesn't retrigger, use the Subtractors LFO.

I love using Reason, but this exemplifies the kinds of things that really frustrate me about Propellerheads development ethos.kaiori breathe wrote:Thisfutures_untold wrote:LFO retrigger in Reason is called 'one shot'. In my mind, why bother developing a new flagship synth and then leave out a decent LFO section????!

And if the whole idea is to be modular, why the fuck not create a decent dedicated ADSR/LFO generator CV device that fits the rack like the RV7000???!!

Reason is a significantly flawed gem.
