Can anyone point me in the direction of...

Post by blazinaidan » Sat Sep 18, 2010 11:36 pm

Some really good grimey/brosteppy dubstep? Recently I've only really like 16bit as far as the grimey shit goes. Borgore/cookiemonsta (etc etc etc) just don't do it for me anymore. 16bit on the other hand seems to do grime shit really really well. Any suggestions for some artists on a similar hype to 16bit?

yeahyeah im feeling you with that, the 'filth' you hear has no melody, thats why i think 16 bit are kings, because they work it all about insanely. I do have a few tunes that i like which you could also if your after that kind of stuff!

yeah man i've checked out hooky's stuff before.. he's alright but tbh i wouldn't be able to tell the difference if i heard one of his tracks and any other 'filth' track.. still, he made a remix called 'when you wake up' which i quite liked..

bare noize i forget about! they're sick too.

and thanks! appreciated man :) gonna check your stuff in a sec :D

i'd recommend Nit Grit and NumberNin6 - definitely heavy with some aspects of "filth" but also lots of melodies and chord progressions.

and you might like some of my tunes as well (soundcloud is in sig). i've definitely been inspired by 16-bit, and i try to incorporate some of the really aggressive sound design of the filth style, while still keeping the tunes musical and interesting.

While we're at it... Can anyone explain the choices 16 bit made while producing in the death car? It's all 'loud but vibey' and then he throws in a collection of disgusting sounds. I seriously thought it was one of dem joke tracks.
Still use the first few bars in some mixes though :D

You don't like In the Death Car?!? Dude that tune is HUGE! One of my favorites for sure. 16bit got their shit on lockdown. The filthy sounds are a bit abrupt but i think it works out really well.

what about bar 9?
think they're great producers as well, not so grimey though.

did you try broken note? a side project of one of the 16bit-dudes.
