anyone have one of those mini usb monitors?

Post by deadly_habit » Thu Sep 23, 2010 9:50 pm

those lil like 7" usb monitors like http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/usb-gadgets/c609/ this or the ones mimo make? was wondering how they function and how useful they'd be. reason i ask is either for real estate for some dedicated plugs like an oscilloscope or spectral analyzer without going pull blown on another widescreen lcd monitor and they seem fairly cheap.
hell debating building a micro atx machine with a cheap stereo in/out interface so i could have a constant oscilloscope and spectral tool going without taxing my main rig, be it for production or referencing tunes
plus they look damn cool, and that's what the ladies dig 8)

yes just curious on response time and such being they are usb and how much usb bandwidth they take up, use 2 usb hubs (1 powered one not) and all my mobos ports as is. just wondering if too good to be true at the cost

I had one and I sold it pretty quick. Kind of novelty. It wasn't that brand though so maybe they have gotten better. It was also more expensive which prompted me to get rid of it, but still for 100 I'd be thinking of getting a normal second monitor.

Maybe they have gotten better in the last year. If so I wouldn't mind having a couple of them mounted. The main problem with the last one was hardly any plugins fit on the screen since they couldn't be resized, but with VST3 and such you can resize VSTs now.

USB is well known to not be time accurate.

I have two 22" acer screens that are connected to my office workstation.
They have served me well for going on two years now.
I think I got them for $140 each at the time.
