Got me thinking

Post by marshy » Sun Sep 26, 2010 1:51 am

Just got back from seeing Funtcase (Wah wah wah) and A1 Bassline was on beforehand, in the transition between the two he played a few garage numbers. Got me thinking, why has the 'filth', and i hate that word but you know what i mean, not ever transitioned to Garage? You have the 'brostep' and the clown DnB, but why has it not happened to Garage, to the best of my knowledge? It sounds stupid on the surface, but why not?

The tunes you guys are posting are the ones that helped UKG morph in Dubstep...

But surely when aggy Garage was made, thats when grime started to surface?

why does everyone equate LFO with filth? plenty of tunes use wobbles in a clever way and it can really add to a tune. it's just a shame that so much of the time all there is to the tune is a "filthy" wobble with fuck all else to it and it gets the kids on youtube raving about it

that's just bassline though. nothing filthy about it really

the problem with the whole filth scene is that producers are trying to out-dark each other using the same tired old sounds (and occasionally new ones to be fair), and it just ends up becoming a parody of itself. the bassline should be one of many elements in a tune but so often the bassline is the tune
