Do you play an instrument?
Hello all.
How many people who are making tunes play an instrument?
I'm a drummer, and have done a fair bit of music theory.
EDIT - How do you reckon it helps/ influences your tunes?
(:

Re: Do you play an instrument?
I am a former guitarist and drummer. I played for 10+ years in various brutal death/grindcore bands. In some aspects it helped at the begining to know how to build drum patterns and make melodies but dubstep structure was the thing I spent the most time on.

I've been playing guitar for years, studying classical guitar for the last 5 or 6. Currently learning this awesome piece for a competition in April:

Used to play a decent amount of bebop on the sax (tenor, baritone, and currently alto), helps TREMENDOUSLY. Keyboards my #2, and that has it's obvious uses. Guitar, mainly bossa nova/flamenco type stuff, clarinet, flute, trombone, I was definitely a band geek
.
Always wanted to learn drums, though. I think live recording into a dnb track would be the tits.

Indeed! Segovia is awesome. Bream is pretty great as well, and John Williams of course. I had a masterclass with Xuefei Yang last year, she's incredible, have you heard her play? Watch this and be amazed. (She's a hottie too.)

yeah man, the manipulation of breaks in DnB, from a drummers perspective, is amazing.AllNightDayDream wrote:Used to play a decent amount of bebop on the sax (tenor, baritone, and currently alto), helps TREMENDOUSLY. A lot of people haven't been musically trained, but still make tunes. Kode9 for example.
I was more-so getting at how this helps/ influences.
Re: Do you play an instrument?
