Why is FL studio looked down upon?

Well you can't get to sample level with audio in the the playlist in fl. There are some things that it can't do, others that it can't do well. But it that doesn't change it's preeminence amongst the daws out there.

I use audio clips the playlist for almost all my non-quantized drums and shit, just zoom in... like being able to see the attack and decay and stuff lines up nicely with other drums as well, so I end in the playlist, almost, more often then I do the piano roll for samples...

Are you unaware of the zoom tabs in the top right of the playlist window man? You can zoom down to almost waveform view.

I did a bunch of research on this subject myself being an FL user for like 12 years and the biggest thing i could come up with is ppl saying other DAWs are built on a 64 bit engine and fl is 32. Funny part about this is, in almost every survey that they have done, folks couldnt tell the audible difference between the two. Something about how from 16 to 32 its a very recognizable difference, but past 32 its almost indistinguishable to the human ear.

Go figure.

FLs audio engine is fine?

And its so unlikely to find a 64bit plugin, much less 64 bit samples, ect.... Render a 32bit plugin, just cause the filesize is as big as a 64, the qual is the same.

Just the layout... if you have used a standard DAW like Cubase or Logic for any time before seeing FL, the layout and wierd loop system just seems to suck nutsack.

Plus all the people making kick 1 snare 3 wobble following root note of chord progression "top 40 - pop tune acapella i found (dubstep remix)" on youtube use it

If you mean summing engines, AFAIK most are 32 bit floating point. Sonar and Reaper are the only 2 major ones I know of that offer 64 bit FP, though some might have implemented it in their latest versions. I really don't think it makes a difference in the summing engine as long as it's at least 32 bit, and there will almost certainly be no audible difference in DAWs unless you bring in things like panning law, and proprietary things such as internal effects, instruments and algorithms for such things as timestretching.

Yeah, it's hard to overstate how accurate 32 bit audio is - for example, if you encoded distances in 32 bits, you could do the distance from London to New York accurate to the nearest milimetre.

Also a lot of plugs (waves, at least the older stuff) for example are only 24bit fixed. Hence can be clipped.

32 Float is fine full stop. I think 64bit FP is a sales blag more than anything.

even with the ppq set to 960 (max resolution) you can't zoom all the way to sample level in the playlist, but you can with edison.

I think he means something like Wave editor. Maybe he does not use Edison, who knows. You can do basic editing to waveforms but you cannot zoom in as far as you may like and its awkward for editing the waveform. I use Soundforge so dont have this issue.

you know when you zoom all the way in with edison you can see all of the points (samples) of the waveform, thats what nowaysj was on about.
