Recording a mix through a midi/effects pad...

Post by Eltsac » Fri Oct 08, 2010 3:47 pm

Easy all,

Hope youre well.

Bit of help needed, and forgive the ignorance...

I am looking to record a mix on vinyl onto Audacity. I recently got a Korg KP2 effects pad, however can not figure out how to record from that to my computer.

Before the Korg I used to plug the line out from my mixer straight into the computer. The issue I am now having is that my set up goes.... Decks --> Mixer --> Korg --> Hi-fi... Which as far as I can tell is the only way to get the Korg putting effects on the mix.

This then leads to an issue of not having an extra output from the Korg to put into the computer, as the only output it has is going into the hifi.

Anyway then to have the Korg work its magic on the mix, and still be able to record the mix? I can still record mixes through the mixer which has two outputs, however the korgs effects are then not recorded in audacity... urgh.

Master/record out from the mixer into the Korg unit and then into your computer?

^^^^

if he only has one output from the mixer and it goes straight to his pc he wont be able to hear anything. ; )

id suggest checking your receiver for an output. you might be able to run an rca from there.
