wtf are you talking about, of course it's about opinions! dude is saying he's feeling a certain sound -- he gave some examples. i listened to them. he says he prefers that to the dubstep coming out today - specifically datsik. i don't see a problem here. you know most of the posts in this thread have said LOOK AT ALL THIS INCREDIBLE STUFF THAT'S COMING OUT WOW DUBSTEP HAS SPLIT OFF IN A MILLION INCREDIBLE DIRECTIONS WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE ANY OF IT??? i'm not sure james blake and mount kimbie and addison groove -- whatever you may think of them -- are dubstep. i'm not sure serox does. why are they dubstep, because the tempo is in the vicinity of 140 bpm? maybe he likes some of that shiz or not (i dig addison groove).
exactly.
Your also right, I dont think its Dubstep either, its Techno. That is not what Dubstep is was when it was called Dubstep. If someone had said this midrange Techno thing at 140 with a sine under it was Dubstep years ago everyone would have said jog the fuck on. I know some of you are going to say its 'evolved' but I am not buying it and think it would be better off with a new name because its just a mess now with everything is being called Dubstep, its lost its meaning.
This new wave of music people call Dubstep appears to be made by people who were from a different background when it comes to music compared to the guys making it a few years back and that is the key. The guys who were going out to and buying 12s of Garage/Jungle/Dub/Hip Hop were doing a different thing making music and calling it 138 or Dubstep and that was the shit for me and still is. Now all I hear is Massive basslines, VST arps that dont fit and cheesy samples with weak grooves lol.
The killer for me is that I was into oldskool Techno big time (still am) as I was finding this new shit people were calling Dubstep (maybe a bit late). Then as I spend more time getting into and trying to make it I see right before my eyes this sound go from something totally dark and original with loads of groove, turn into really generic Techno sounding cheese. Its not even like good Techno, I hate new style Techno too for the same reason I dislike most new Dubstep.
Computers are killing it lol. Everyones production now days is tight and its hard to get your own sound or vibe going, it all sounds too alike to me. Roland drum machines and an Akai sampler with some decent fx is really missing. With just these machines in your hands people seemed to spend less time flicking thru presets and whining on forums about how big their dicks were and spend more time learning how to use the 1 or 2 toys. Weather it was Hip Hop in New York in or Techno in Frankfurt Germany in 1992, people made some of the best music to me using them. I don’t know why exactly but they did for me. I think it is something to do with limiting what toys you have in your hands and learning to use them very well. Also having just a few toys and running them thru the same processing made things all gel and fit together and connected, who knows!
Each to their own. I am not saying I am right or that I know best but I can give my opinion. See you on the other side!

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
