I don't even think the fact people may like both is at all relevant

you don't like the track? fine. don't pretend you're intellectualising it by telling me why i should think it's crap too, because i won't. Why don't you start talking about some music you like for a change?

hey remember: the true intellectual opens his mind to everything, the pseudo-intellectual shuts things off
The reason I mentioned Datsik in that way is this. People tend to go from one cool thing to the next. The people who I have seen who are all of a sudden into Datsik were into Radiohead last week at Galstonbury. Trend jumpers.

VS also has the same following of people who just go to whatever is 'cool' or music that is played at 200bpm and records with 'funny' samples, see Shitmat.

I am not telling you to think its crap, I am saying what I think :D its my opinion and I have a pet hate for some genres.

like i said you just seem very ignorant and angry about anything not in your little tunnel vision of what music is
I got no beef with datsik, its to do with all the people trying to copy his sound.

I am not angry at all.

Next you will be telling me Autechre are better now than in the early 90s in Warp.
 i appreciate current autechre and the older stuff, they're different styles and sounds so why would i compare them together?
it'd be like even with venetian snares comparing say his early hard breakcore stuff with his soundtrack and symphonic work, it doesn't make sense to do that.

I am not sure if you were being serious about this bit or not but it made me giggle for some reason?

"the groove seems really obvious to me man. Just tap your hands to the drums four times, then three times, then four times, then three times, etc. "

How do I dance to it?

:D

There is a clear pattern with VS fans and you just helped clear it up for me, once again.

Seriously tho, I am just pulling ur legs. I dont often dislike music as much as I do this stuff and I cannot stand people who listen to music to appear cool. Not aiming that at anyone on here but VS has a 'cool' following of internet geeks and forum whiners who sit around depressed posting all day.

btw, you dont think Auterchre have lost sight of it all? have you seen them out at all? I have seen them a number of times. I love the stuff they use to put out on Warp records in the 90s, loved it. But I have seen them 2 in the last 5 years and have had to walk out very disappointed. They have flopped it in my eyes and the music is like something made by Nasa to communicate with aliens :D

 fucking hell serox, my entire life i've had a tough time explaining to most non-musicians why i like venetian snares so much, and now you're claiming he's chart topping hype? seriously? again, and even if he was massive, i like him because it sounds good to me. I imagine a lot of people feel this way.

what does it matter otherwise?

i have a dislike for some music too (for example, coldplay, shitmat), but you don't really see me blasting on about it. Music I don't like clearly makes some people very happy and that's good enough for me.

autechre new and old owns equally

Hes not chart topping I know but the people who listen to him who I know just jump from one chart topper to the next (I think its lady gaga this week). I was not aiming anything at you but was talking in general btw.

Ok so you both like Autechre current and old. Would I be right in thinking you do not like current Squarepusher but you like his old too?:) cmon, be honest.

This will no doubt degenerate into a namecalling thread so...

I usually don't say stuff like this because all this forum drama gets on my nerves and I post on a webforums to get away from every day drama once in a while for some lighthearted fun. But please, serox has absolutely nothing of value to add to this thread. He's like an old redneck telling people off for listening to 'hip hop music!'. Ignore it, 'cause nothing good is gonna come from that and any decent, lighthearted but intelligent discussion that coudl've come out of this thread will go straight out the window and you're not gonna change his mind. He's set on his ways and you are on yours.

Didn't like Just a Souvenir that much but appreciated he was trying something different, so I've been meaning to give it another go. Hello Meow I loved for a little while and then suddenly got really boring. Number Lucent seemed like a bad impression of his old work. Loved more or less everything previously. Does any of this matter? What's with all this pigeonholing?

Seriously man, are you saying you think this music is rubbish because people who like it tend to like this other thing? Why?
I dont like it because I think it is pretentious.

I also went on to say that nearly everyone I have met and seen on a forum who likes VS seem to be alike thats all.

I mentioned A'ture and thought you and Deadly Rabit may like their new stuff (more pretentious rubbish from people I use to be well into and I am not alone in thinking that) and also S'pusher. Apprently it is cool to say you use to like old pusher, but not new. And it is now cool to say you like current A'ture, but not old. Weird pattern I noticed between people who like VS. It is also common to see these people on forums a lot moaning and feeling all depressed while they take time out from programming. Weird.

True. But its fun and passes the time having a whine on the INTERNETZ till its home time :D

At VS fans are the best for it. :z:

This topic of VS "hot or snot" has been done to death on every music forum going.

Bit of both. I get bored at work and that can be destructive for anyone ready to take the bait.
