Decklyn - Digital LoveWIP- Also a quick question for the DJs

Post by decklyn » Tue Mar 20, 2007 4:08 am

Hey working on a new one, but I don't have any dubstep on wax, and only one CDJ currently, so I'm not too sure if this is usable to a DJ, with the snare coming off of the grid. -> That's my question - is it okay that the snares break off of the grid? Would this be usable in a set, or is it immensely more difficult to mix a track like this a la chop up or intelligent dnb?

Thanks for any feedback.

What do you hear in there? What doesn't work for you? How does it sound on your system (too much bass? not enough bass?)
Any ideas for direction?

I'll keep updating the track here until it's done.

Thanks so much guys. Dubstep is fantastic. I'm in love. Thought I'd celebrate it with this sensual/sexual second track.

i actually really dig that chopped up break you're using. i don't really think it would cause too much of a problem in regards to the mixing. it might actually make for some more creative mixing in regards to phrasing the tunes. i like the idea of where the bass is going.

do you have a longer clip of the tune? it's a lil short to give a lot of critique on, but so far it sounds like you have some really good ideas in there.

:o

i really like the sound of that. don't worry about the snares, they're fine. the beats are wicked, nice to hear some proper drum work. looking forward to hearing how this one turns out.

Dope. Glad it's being well digested.

any DJ worth their salt would have no problems with that snare positioning. the beats in some broken beat are much madder/off-kilter than that and it's still mixable.
