Re: Heavyweight Synths
z3ta+ and Massive are sick. z3ta+ has so many amazing presets to mess with iliterally laughed out loud when I got it. It was an evil laugh...I'm sure you understand.
FM8 is also sweet as is Absynth. Basically I've never heard of a bad Native Instruments product....
Free wise Crystal is good. I also use Synth1 which is a monster. The arp on it is particularlly sweet: http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/#down
Also TAL-Elek7ro is worth a shout on the freeware side of tings

Futures man...
Atlantis is badman, and is more chalked with features then you can throw a stick at! Definately worth a MUCH bigger shout then Electro, lol.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
Truth.
Atlantis is nasty, and crystal is at least worth getting accustomed to. I don't regret any of my purchases (harmless for 9, surge, zeta for 20 and cm plugs) but just these 2 alone will keep me from any more purchases for a long time.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
Would anyone recommend anything from camel audio? i've heard datsik does and alchemy seems okay, hmm theres quite a fe options out there.
So it's either: Rob papen blue, Rob papen Predator, z3ta+, korg legacy, Camel audio alchemy.
What does everyone think. Personally to me blue looks the most appealing combining subtractive synthesis and fm synthesis but wether or not it will be good for heavy dubstep, but also electro house and dnb i don't know. i've heard it's got a few dubstep and dnb presets too. if anyone has got blue there opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
Don't man, since I started rewiring reason into ableton I've tried a hell of a lot of other synths and in the end I've gone back to just using the reason stock and ableton stock ones, they dick on everything else I've tried tbh. Except alchemy, that's badboy :p few effects plugins are good too but your not missing too much using reason, especially not with synths and scream 4 is the most badass distortion I've been able to find.hakka wrote:I feel so left out! Re: Heavyweight Synths
i agree, reasons synth are good, although i've never used other synths, besides nord lead 2 hardware. But would love to try out some of those vst synths, but meh i know my way in reason pretty well and the last thing i want to do is learn a new dawparavrais wrote:Don't man, since I started rewiring reason into ableton I've tried a hell of a lot of other synths and in the end I've gone back to just using the reason stock and ableton stock ones, they dick on everything else I've tried tbh. Re: Heavyweight Synths
I can see your point, i wouldn't want to move to another daw as ableton is like logic quite qwuirky compared to other daws, the only one i could see myself using is fl studio 9 which is really a bit of a downgrade in terms of features, i have to say that it's built in instruments are pretty nice but i'd rather have vst's for that.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
What features are you loosing on FL, as far as I can tell our arrangement just looks different, and we sequence drums different too, right?Bonsai wrote:I can see your point, i wouldn't want to move to another daw as ableton is like logic quite qwuirky compared to other daws, the only one i could see myself using is fl studio 9 which is really a bit of a downgrade in terms of features, i have to say that it's built in instruments are pretty nice but i'd rather have vst's for that.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
I'm not saying it's massively different just other than it's good instruments what benefits are there for changing, is there sidechaining in fl? I mean it's a great package to start out on and producers like skream use it. Does fl have it's own equivalent to the vocoder and looper? I'm gonna stick with ableton as i'm going to purchase an apc20 soon and having to remap every control for fl is a huge pain. At the end of the day if the daw can mix and sequence then thats all you really need as effects you can get with vsts same with instruments.

Mac peeps can't get in on this but the baddest of them all is......*drumroll*
Vaz Modular
Puts every/any digital synth hardware or software to absolute shame.
Nothing tops it. Right up there with the nastiest analogue boards I have ever heard.
Simply a beast and a piece of coding genius. Sound quality is
Here's a couple sounds of patches I made to prove it

http://colourofsound.8088.org/mp3/epsy/wav/sibian1.mp3
both are recordings of 1 note being held with no automation.

If you need to spend your money right away... just found this on KVR's forum
FAW Circle for Just under $70 usd...
http://www.bestservice.de/found.asp/circle/circle/en#
Haven't used it, but hear good things. Would probably snatch it if I wasn't already overwhelmed.

Re: Heavyweight Synths
Yes fruity has a vocoder. Yes fruity has sidechaining. Dont know what 'looper' does but Im assuming fruity loops has an equivelent haha. Not trying to tell you to change, just telling you that YES, ALL DAWS ARE IN FACT THE SAME.Bonsai wrote:I'm not saying it's massively different just other than it's good instruments what benefits are there for changing, is there sidechaining in fl?
