Cubase SX3 Problem HELP!!!
If anyone can help me with ideas or suggestions i'll be most grateful.
Basically everytime i try to do an audio mixdown cubase freezes and the computer crashes. Also when going back to old tunes to do a mixdown it freezes and crashes when i try to re save it. I wonder if its a hard disk problem as it appears maxed out in the display for the old tunes. My new tunes save ok (the hard disc display doesn't appear maxed out) but still freeze when i try to do an audio mixdown??? I have 35gb free on my hard disc is this enough??? I've defraged it. Any other suggestions. Building new beats i experience no problems until i attempt an audio mixdown.
Please help.

tbh i'd increase your RAM i have a very similar spec but with 2Gb RAM no problems like thisTUNNIDGE wrote:I do have a fair amount of VSTs but i didn't have this problem untill recently.
This is my spec i think it should run ok....
Processor A64 3000+ OEM
Hard Drive 200gb
Memory Geil 2 512MB DDR
Safe
if your running loads of audio tracks it uses a lot of RAM
also check what programmes are running in the background
but if youve not had this problem before then maybe just reinstall SX3
also check that your RAM is working properly i had a stick come loose in my old pc and was scratching my head as to why my pc had slowed down so much

test the water with some small mixdowns - just try a small sample and if that works just an MP3 of a tune, process of elimination. If this works try freezing your VST synths to audio (F11 - icon with the snowflake by the synth) save that as a new file IE "trackname - frozen"
Has this just started happening?
Has anything changed in your setup?,IE new VST's etc?
Sometimes if I'm doing a big mixdown (lots of VST's and FX) It will take ages and if it takes too long Windows will think its not responding and you will get whiteout/ghosting - I just leave it running and come back to a mixdown - if you suspect HD failure it could just be a segment - try mixing down to another folder.

I have been trying the freeze option but sometimes it freezes whilst its freezing! Maybe its just taking ages but i left it for 10 mins and still nothing. But ill try again and give it longer, ill also try a small mixdown as you suggest Its weird coz im not using any new VSTs the problem seems to have just appeared out of no where.
Thanks once again.
Thanks once again.
how do u do a real time export in cubase??TUNNIDGE wrote:Yeah Just for future reference for any1 else. Real Time Export works perfectly although it still crashes sometimes but not during audio mixdowns. I think this is a ram issue!
Thanks once again.
do u mean just recording the track onto another audio track?
coz theres a wheel that you use to speed the track up in realtime on the transport bar but i've never been able to record the sped up version, anybody know what i'm talking about?
