I swear it was called "Escape to Victory". Maybe thats what its called over here.
Any film with Ozzy Ardilles has to be good though

also, you've got to love sly stallone's attempts at being a goalie. Proper funny. I heard in some interview or another that when pele was helping to train him he used to take shots, and sly had to try and save them. After a while he thought he was getting quite good, so he asked pele to take a proper shot. Apparently he got a hand to it, but the shot was so hard that it sprained his wrist and still went in!

Yeah the Brit version was definitely Escape to Victory - is the Great Escape just known as The Great in the US?
Maybe escaping's seen as sissy in macho action movie stakes
Can't stand football, but still got a lot of respect for Pele

I might have to purchase this - or just wait till the next Bank Holiday and see it on TV
