After the storming success of the first session in the Basement at The City Arts & Music Project, Reggae Roast are back for another night of Roots & Culture in the heart of East London. Last months event featured sound system royalty Aba Shanti-i alongside the full crew of resident selectors and MCs. It was an amazing first nigh in the basement, with an electric atmosphere and positive vibe throughout, setting the tone for the monthly programmed dates to come.
This month we are pleased to welcome two very special guests to the table. Firstly Solution Sound, an inspirational crew from Hackney, renowned for their legendary dances over the past 10 years and secondly Ghetto Priest from the On-U Sound camp. Solution Sound have been responsible for some of the best Roots parties in London of the past 10 years. They are experts at converting town halls, warehouses and local public parks into vibrant gatherings playing the best conscious roots to massive crowds on with their very own earth shattering sound system. The full Solution crew will be in attendance including founders Mark & Paul and MC Poison.
Ghetto Priest is one of the most flamboyant and creative performers to have emerged from the UK Reggae scene. He honed his vocal talents and artistic persona around the sound system dances of the early 80s, before becoming the front man of Dub/Punk super-group Asian Dub Foundation, touring globally with the band and recording on multiple hit albums. He is also a major artist on Adrian Sherwood’s iconic On-U Sound label, with a wealth of experience both on stage and in the studio. We are delighted to finally welcome Ghetto Priest to grace the session. Expect to hear an exclusive live PA of the forthcoming single ‘Evolution’ on Reggae Roast Records, which is currently enjoying airplay from the likes of David Rodigan and Don Letts on international radio and beyond.
Also playing on the night will be founders of Reggae Roast Exel & Moodie, and resident DJ Dub Hunter. Expect to hear the freshest selection of classic Revival, Dub, Steppers, Dubstep and Digi-Roots as well as forthcoming dubplates from Reggae Roast Records.
This second dance at The City Arts & Music Project will continue to blaze a fire throughout the winter months, with an emphasis on big baselines in a welcoming environment. Hold tight for announcements of some very special guests booked for December and NYE, as Reggae Roast showcase the best artists from across the UK and beyond. This event is only £5 before 12am and capacity is limited to 350 so arrive early for guaranteed entry.
