Ideas on how to achieve this noise

Post by Endur » Thu Oct 28, 2010 6:46 pm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiwjEpevXFs

The song is Beasts in the basement by Reso, one of the first artists to get me into dubstep.
The specific sound that I am looking for occurs first at just about 1:00 into the song. Sort of a high pitched bass which i can only relate to the sound of a race car or something, haha.
Although I am not very new to the production of music, I am however to creating dubstep and have yet to create a full song (only been messing around really).
I currently use Reason 4.0 (just started a few weeks ago, used to use FL studio)and have only been able to achieve wobble basses similar to those that you would find in most youtube tutorials.
I am not specifically trying to recreate this sound but figure out in what manner the artist created it, as I've heard variations in many songs and I really like the effect.

Also, first post, and I'd just like to say I'm excited to of found a community where I can seek help and converse with other aspiring artists. I've read through various threads within the forum and it really seems like a great place to learn.
