Dynadio vs. Adam A7x monitor battle....

Mr tax-rebate man has been kind to me this year, so its new monitor o'clock for me.

but...

adam a7x over the bm5a's easily. EASILY

HANDS DOWN ROUND MY FANNY AFTER ONE PINT easy.

the bass response is much better on the a7x's and the transitions from lows mids to highs are so smooth (i dont know shit but my mum told me so and i believe her)

you should audition them at a guitar shop to be safe though. always wear a condom

Can you go and listen to them?

I work on Dynaudio BM6a Mk1's (got them used for less than the BM5's new) and my friend has the A7's. They are both great sounding monitors and along w/ Genelec's are considered some of the best in their price range. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them, it's really just down to personal preference.

I picked the Dynaudio's b/c I was mixing on them a lot at friend's, loved the bass, and the clarity, and they don't fatigue my ears. I don't regret it.

Note: You may want to look into buying used like I did and getting the BM6's or the next higher line of Adam's.

From my listening the adam's are a lot more open, would say it's quite a different sound though.

Try them both out then buy the adams'

I think i generally prefer the adams at this size of monitor. Dynaudio to me sounds quite harsh at times.

But yeah i think its personal preference, tink both will suit.

I was at the store trying to decide between these two. I ended up getting the BM5a's. I love them I think they are amazing. I found the A7's to be a bit more shrill at the store. I also found the BM5a's to have better stereo imaging but I guess that just comes down to monitor placement.

At the end of the day both sound fantastic, you wont regret your choice either way.

I'll probably go for the adams, have tested them and as you know my housemate uses them too - but part of me thinks it would be good to have two different sets of monitors like that in the house, for comparisons... but a few people have said the same to me about dynaudio - they can be a bit harsh sometimes - but they have released a mk11 bm5a... they're the ones that intrigue me.... hmmm
