why do spiders have 8eyes? do some have less?

these creep me out the most

my best mate when i was a kid used to live in this block of flats, we'd always play footie against the wall in the courtyard and the wall was literally infested with these every spring/summer... they were MASSIVE when i was a kid, and seeing them walking upright in the grass scared the crap out of me.

That pic is massively unsettling.

WHOA! Turbo, like a decent version of disney land, nice one for sharing. Man it looks like it'd sound like being a vinyl

1% of spiders have 6 eyes :m: You can see evolutionary trends in the migration/placement of eyes in spiders though (and nearly everything else in the wee beasts). Different spiders have 'very' different ways of living so naturally the eye placement has altered to give the greatest benefit for the purpose

One (nerd) thing though... The family Tetragnatha seems to favour orb webs rather than sheet webs (which over time can give the impression of being communal)
Image
Can find webs like that though from most spiders when the babies start to bail out n stuff though
Would be swish to visit that place

Ayeee but the spider it says (Tetragnatha) doesn't make those

Legs for orb webs

Legs fo sheet webs

Got different spinnerets n shit too, unlikely to make that type of web

Used to be a proper nerd doing research and lectures on spider silk n stuff to people. Thankfully lost my virginity prior to that, otherwise it could've stuck for life

That's terrifying, man.

By 'footie' you mean ball? Ever splat a big cluster of them with the ball? :D Suppose that'd be a bit cruel, tho..

i have slight arachnophobia and this thread was okay until that infested wall came. :(
WHY DONT THEY JUST KILL EACH OTHER D:< spiders aren't supposed to live like that!
how would a wall covered in spiders make any sense from a spider's perspective?
sometimes i hate nature...

I don't mind spiders too much but... :o

I hate when you see spiders chilling about in a room and when you go in the next day they've disappeared. Always wonder where they go...

ahh not at all! they're big pussies really, but I wouldn't stick my finger in one's gob as they have big fangs.

It's the white-tailed, funnel web, and mouse spiders that give me the proper heebiejeebies. Some darkside arachnids right there
