He used a sample for this I think. Sounds like theme music from a film.

The bass sounds like a square pitched down with a lp filter on it.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

It's a sample from the theme music from Metal Gear Solid 2.

so take this for what it is, the opinion of a completely unexperienced producer, whose poor knowledge of sound engineering has been tediously gathered on those really reliable info sources that forums are

but messing with lowpassed reeses got me to results close to this type of bass textures, hope it helps, more experienced producers, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong

You'll get used to it :)

For the record, for any questions you have in future about making sounds;

- Check the stick threads at the top
- Use the search (http://www.dubstepforum.com/search.php)
- Post in the How Do I Make This Sound thread (http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=91539)
- Search YouTube for tutorials

If all else fails, make a thread in here. Be prepared that any threads involving Burial, Mt Eden, Skrillex or Datsik/Excision in their question will probably attract a bit of stick. Ignore the bits that aren't helpful, make a note of the stuff that is. :m:

from what i've come to understand, burial uses zero synths.

(not implying anyone here is saying that though).

I got some pretty nice results pitching down a bell sample I found on Freesound (think; Buddhist temple style bell, for lack of a better explanation)
Couple of people messaged me wanting to know what synth I made it on, so I'm assuming it sounded reasonable :lol:
Had some really nice movement to it, to

Get sample hunting, young sir [:
