@LordBid: i like the aesthetic and mixing on the drums. But something about the drop doesn't quite do it for me. I mean, it certainly has the requisite weight, but I guess there's too much of an edge that isn't evolving continuously but discretely. Though, I suppose that is a matter of taste.

@Bass Sedation: Gnarly drop, rumbles and snarls all over the place. Really dig it. I guess I would wish the snare had a bit more lower range body. But it's got enough of a punch and a good snap right now, which is the important thing.

@jaspervc: The song certainly has a raw drop, it does deliver there. But, I really like the middle section you have in between, and I feel like the tune would be even sweeter if you could somehow do an in between section that rhythmically shifted between the wobble and the stabs. Also, some variations on the wobble would be nice. It's solid right now, but it could be even better, especially with the thematic material you're starting with.

Here's one I've been working on recently. I think the influence of a certain someone is rather apparent.

@Airlabam - I don't really understand it. I know there is a niche for this type of sound, but I've never really got it or flowed with it, so I don't know whether that's good or bad.

@Zone Trooper - Nice panning on the drop, but where is the deeeep deep sub bass on the drop? You have chosen your rhythm but you haven't accompanied it with a sub bass that will make a dancefloor go mad. Check out the production section for help on it, they helped me out loads!

@Lordbid - Love the intro! Nice and melodic! Not my style of production but I can appreciate this at least. Very smooth, just keep working on making the bass better and better. Nice Dnb drop though!

@Mitch Dubstep - The drop is anti climatic in a big way. The bass doesn't seem like it's got much space or fluidity. More reverb on the snare? Smash in a few more cymbals to make the beats pace seem faster? Rides perhaps? I can hear the subtle crash's though.

3rd track submitted this month, keeping the work pace up a little:

@Inasound: That bass seems pretty nontraditional; I like it.

@Airlab Am – Thanks for the feedback. I agree the snare is flat…it’s been something I’ve wrestled with on this track for a while. I just don’t know where to blend in the bottom end of the snare, since there is so much going on in the midrange already. Argh…but anyway. As for your track, “As the rider…” I like the atmosphere. Very chill, the sounds mesh nicely. My only complaint would be the heartbeat sounding kick sections. The transitions to those sections could do much more to enhance the coolness there, right now they just kind of happen. Maybe add some sweeps or a reverse cymbal, just to add a little more direction to the mix. Overall nice groove! (Also…who’s the influence here? My guess is Aphex Twin…)

@dj seizure – “Adhura” Digging the rhythm. Love that snare hit on the And of 4. Cymbal hits sound a lil cheesy, maybe double them, offset one sample by a few milliseconds and pan them in opposite directions? Sub is HEAVYYYY. Get this signed and posted to SomaFM!

@Merqz – “Get on the Floor” – Very cool! Loving all the synth work, smooth flows all around. Digging that background arp. Crank up the volume and make your transitions more dramatic, I want my effing ears blown away with that smooth groove! Very nice track, tops.

@Ina (and everyone else): Soundcloud must hate me or something, cos' I had to upload this five times before it wasn't "too hot". (And before anyone jumps on me, I already left feedback thrice in my last post.)

Traxione - Not sure if its compression or limiting, but there is something serious going on on the master bus here. whenever something loud comes in you can hear it squashing everything else, i think you need to be careful with this. make sure you've got plenty of head room in your mixdown and then limit it up if you need to but be sparing! Builds pretty cool though mate, alot of good ideas in there and its got a good overall pace!

Mushroom Buttons - Love this track mate, really liking the style. Liking the mix down as well, top work everything sounds lovely here :4:

Now here's my one, just finished this the other day after a few month hiatus from dubstep!

@airlabam - I think the intro was too long for what it was personally got kind of annoying after a while and the drop lacked impact as a result. Otherwise its kind of cool nastolgia/glitch, obv aphex twin esque hehe. Im not quite sold on the sparseness of this one like I feel like more could be going on and glitching out etc.... Overall I think I just want to hear more as otherwise this is kind of just a loop with a kick at different places to me atm. But I like that de-tuned nostalgic synth haha sounds awesome.

@dj seizure - I really like the melodic bits of this tune and your upper end percussion, but where is the kick??? I guess that what you have as a kick I almost thought was a snare or something it doesn't seem to hit in the freq low enough. It sounds like the drums could use some mixing work I think as your low end sounds a litte muddy, and that shaker is maybe a little loud. Also not sold on the drop, The nothingness to the beat starting isn't enough for me.

hey everyone, not sure if this is the right place to put this but I'm starting to learn Ableton and I would love to produce dubstep and unique tracks that mix genres.

Sorry did not realize the give feedbacks before posting rule.

dedman - nice atmosphere you got going there in the intro. Was expecting a pretty chill track! haha. Nice, clean mixdown on your side as well. btw, thanks for listening to mine :D

Norvege - you got some good ideas there, blending a few different styles. But be careful not to get too carried away and end up having a random mixture that sounds more like a mix set than a structured song. And practise practise practise on mixing! It's an art but well worth it. http://www.dubstepforum.com/this-thread ... 74832.html

hokay lets seeeee. its 2 am here and im not sleeping tonight so i guess ill give some feedback.

@airlabam
Really glitchy trippy shit. I really like it. I have a track my friend sent me titled Datsik - Domino (although i know thats not the real title) but it sounds like that. Really sweet, but I can't tell if its random or just really detailed and focused production.

@dj seizure
nice intro, love the strings, where are they from? sound very cinematic. i noticed the reversed crash sample is kind of generic sounding like straight out of a VEC sample pack, id change that. something about your sound is kinda wierd, like everything is in the center a bit too much, but it doesn't quite sound mono. idk how to describe it. cool track, very ethnic sounding i guess youd say. could use some spicing up tho.

@merqz
lol funky intro synth. reminds me of old house. i like that glitchy hat loop too, really adds something nice to the track although its just a small detail. drop is awesome, really liking this track, but your percussion lacks so much power, mainly the kick. i would say use compression, transient designers etc. but i think the key here is better sample choice. good work tho

@kikaruu
track isn't working for me atm, when its back up ill give some feedback..

@traxione
this is pretty cool but has a really kind of 'immature' feel to it, i think the percussion. bass sounds are cool, the whole track also seems kind of overcompressed, were you working with a limiter on the master?

@naroja
trippy stuff, really like the FX in the intro, im into that weird ass sound design stuff. i like this track although not what im usually into. doesn't really hold much musical value for me though, but good production and sound design. mixing is a little empty.

@mushroom buttons
this sounds so gangster LOL. funky, i like it. melodies are really awesome too, i love the arps. not much i can say about it production wise as its pretty simple. good track

@dedman
thats fucking cool. bass has some awesome transients and isn't squashed to fuck, i can appreciate that. nice production and good mixdown, although the snare kind of sounds low quality, but if thats what you were going for then its all good.

@norvege
hahaha sounds like alot of peoples tracks when they just start producing. wierd stuff, cant really say i like it, would be fucking cool to listen to on mushrooms tho. something different, and tbh its not even that even badly produced, just lacking in some things but youll get there fast. some advice i think would be to carry out a common idea throughout the whole song, that doesnt mean you cant change genres etc but i mean melodically.

Annnnd something different, not for me, but maybe to some people here, heres a neurofunk dnb track i just finished, would love to hear what you think of it.

Thx :)

@spectrum1: You set a nice atmosphere in the beginning. Strong drums, too. The extended A-section is nice, but it's almost like the bass comes in rather suddenly; once it does, though, the track gets an upgrade. My only complaint is that it's too short! :D

@Norvege: I think your drums could use some texture; ever thought about layering your samples?

@ merqz

Nice sounds all round, very trippy, sounds like a mix of that 8-bit and skwee vibe I love so much, very retro sounding, in a new way, I like it a lot man, props on this one.

@ Bass Sedation

Lots of interesting sounds and nice ideas in this one, good production value too, nice work on the arrangement, all the sections move nicely into eachother. Not much else to say on this one. Can sound a bit chaotic at times, but I get the impression that's intentional.

@ kikaruu

sick tune, great sounds, sounds a little flat to me though? I could be wrong. But anyway, great themes and sounds man. Keep it up :D Lovely vibes during the breakdown before the final drop.

@ Traxione

Nasty fucking tune man. Well done. Nothing else needs said on this one.

@ naroja

It's not really my style but I can see a lot of work went into it and the production value is good.

@ Mushroom Buttons

Nice tune to choose to do a remix of, good choice. This is a really lovely track man, well done. Extreme props.

@ LordBid

Fantastic tune man, seriously great vibes, love the windy melodies on that flute/panpipe whatever it is, great bass sounds as always from you, the change up is really well thought out, brilliant work on that, outro is great, production is spot on, well done.

@ tomi

I'd like it more if it came with feedback.

@ Norvege

This is great if you're just starting out, better than what I hear from a lot of guys who have been working on tunes for years. A bit of an overload of musical ideas I think, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Nice work.

@ spectrum1

sick - that is all.

@ JustabitMajestic

Nice work man, great sounds, great production :)

Soundcloud

This one's a bit different, jazzy vibes, with a big hip hop influence on the melodies and groovy 2-step influenced half time drums at 170 bpm. This one's a song to have a smoke in a dark room to.
