Posted reviews a week or two ago. Here is an original track that I recently redid to add more sub bass. My first completed track. Let me know what you think.

@Amphibian: That remix is pretty good. I've never heard the original, but I think it could use a bit more. Not sure just how much you have done so far though. However, the part with the sub and beat, could just use a bit more. I think you could use that harmonic pad you have going after the beat and sub portion, and actually intertwine that into that first drop. It doesn't even need all of it, maybe short stabs of it with some long droning delays to sort of drag it through about 4 bars. I think it would help give that first drop a bit more character.

@UnitedFruits: I like the track. However, I think the talking wobble things actually ruined it a bit. I'd honestly go for something more straight forward. Maybe something with more of a high pitch to it. Something a bit more dubby I guess. I'd also remove that bass you used in the second part. It just didn't fit, at least in my opinion.

@Hutyluty: It is boring, but not because it's different. It's boring because it doesn't really change at all. After your initial intro it's basically the same thing all the way through. It really lacks structure of any kind. With a bit of structure, I could give some better feedback on it, but right now it's hard to really say anything about it cause I can't get through it.

@Trike12: Your track needs more. I like the bass. The beat is decent and the little stabs you use are good. However, there's nothing else driving it. The stabs are not a melody in any real way. It could use some sort of pad, or some sort of a driving melody to keep it going. There's almost nothing going on in the high frequencies, which leaves the track feeling empty.

Well, here's a remix I'm working on. I don't know if it's done yet, it might be. I guess that just depends on me. Who knows, maybe in the next couple days I'll listen to it and think it needs something else, or something.

@twisted - really nice. gotta say i dont like the kick, but i really like the whole track. love the synth that comes in later.

@rayman - so chilled. think it needs more going on though. like just incidentals or whatever. also dont really like the kick reverb. also the volume automation on the guitar is a bit much i think. but yeah, heavy song, the things ive said are really small tbh.

@blazinaidin - i like everything apart from the main synth. it sounds too thin to me. its obviously the main synth, but doesnt sound like it is cos its too thin. also, i like the synth at the end even without it being on guitar. :)

@grok - bare like your organ sound. wasnt expecting that drop. the drums are a bit 4x4 for my liking in the intro. but each to their own. the drops really catchy tho. :)

heres mine.... still wip, but just come to a point i dunn owhat to do. not mixed in the slightest, so thinking more arrangement wise...

@kayo: You've never done this before? Well this is a great tune for a first, SHIT! I have to say, it really grabs my attention for the first half but after that it just doesn't seem to develop much more. I think with tunes like these, they really rely on a big variety of samples to work out. That's why the first half was sick, because all the samples were new, but for this kind of tune bringing them back in repeatedly just doesn't seem to work out the best. Some spaced out vocals would do well over this IMO. Great start tho man, big up if it's really your first. I had no clue how to sample or EQ or any of that on my first project.
I'm sorry if what i wrote looked like it was the first tune i did. it's not. it's the first time i put something here for some opinion. i'm a beginner still... lot of work to be done.
blazinaidan wrote: OK, started this one like a week ago or so. Still very much in it's WIP phase but I'm curious to what yall think so far. By the way, I'm gonna be recording the lead line near the end on guitar instead so it'll sound alot better. I'm just using that synth for now.

Samkablaam: Nice vibes here. I think it needs something more though. I like space, but there may be too much here. And to be honest, production wise youre not far off really. Those bass sounds are the best part of this though. Really really impressive.

JBE: Straight off, I like your vox samples, but your drums needs more life - sounding a bit dead. And that main synth melody is too loud too. BUT, when it all comes together after a minute or so, I'm loving it. That sub with those vocals is really nice. Yeah ok its still a WIP, but I think you're not far off with this man. Really good tune.

Afresh: Not a fan of that snare mate. When it gets to 1 minute in, I like it, but before that your bass sound gets lost amongst the other layers. I suggest in that bit up to 1 min with the layers, just thin them out, give the bass some space to breath. Its a veryy accomplished bassline in it self, maybe some variation in texture and sound needed though. My fave part is at 1:55, that sub and bass drum work is excellent. BUT, at 2:20, I'm afraid that sound just doesn't do it for me. Sorry. For a first completed track though, it's definitely on the right track (no pun intended). I think you've tried to cram too many ideas into it, but you're on the way man :)

Right, I've knocked this up in the last few hours, not complete yet obviously, but I'd love some detailed feedback on it. I'm really trying to improve texturally, so any pointers would be a help :D

@twisted psykie - really enjoying the metric remix.
@brownz - yeee man this track is decent. i'd take the levels down on the panning hats though. enjoying the whole vibe of it.

Debaser: Thanks for the input. I'm not really sure how to change the texture of the bassline so if you could give me any tips that would be much appreciated. As for your track, :50 when the bass comes in was sick. The only thing I could recommend would be maybe turning up the vocals a little bit because they get lost a little in the background.

Gdavies: Pretty cool. At times it seems like there was a lot going on with the drums, but that is probably just because it's at 169 bpm. I like how the bass sounds like some sort of animal. The first part of the song feels like you are in a jungle, and then around 3:05 the animals start attacking each other or something lol. I'm not really a fan of the outro. It seems too long and a little boring after the preceding animal deathmatch.

Afresh: Cheers man. Basically, I mean maybe try mixing up your sounds, adding 3 or 4 bass sounds and interchanging them note by note. A cool tool to add some flavours is the filter envelope on your bass - have a twiddle with it :)

@debaser - jokes. like the string/pad thing synths after the drop. :) think you need something to make the drop more obvious, hats or a riser or something. actually liked the song, and i dont normally like anything remotely wobbly. ha. maybe more room to breathe, but i guess thats more personal preference. and maybe more variation on the lead.

@rekah - think you just need a more interesting bassline and sub sound. doesnt really do much.sub lacks power. that snares a little annoying too. but tbh, once everything kicks in, that pad and the bongos, i like it. maybe try and work it all in together sooner? :S

@sirminus - think the drop lacks weight. is there any bass in the drop? or any low mids really. doesnt sound muddy, so dont think you need to worry about that. maybe switch up the pattern. think your hat or shaker reverb sounds a little weird. especially in the outro, it sort of just sounds like white noise. catchy riff btw.

easy, just done some adjusting before bed. unmixed, just wondering about arrangement stuff....

@ arisemprex. Liking little melody on intro! Like that drop, I think that sub needs to be coming through more, would be dope! Liking the guitar for sure bro good work.

@ Brownz. Love that little finger click, synth sounds bloody nice. Very good brother! Wouldn't change anything sounding nice!

@ Debaser1. Intro yes!! Sucker for melodys here! Kick sounds like its got a bit too much bottom end on it. Very funky drop, gw!

This is a new one im working on. It's pretty heavy, alot of you wont like :P.

samkablam- nice feel to the intro, although i feel it could be abit louder, ambience seems abit low compared to the drums like. a real minimal deep vibe.. which I dig, but i would prefer some sub bass instead of just the sub on the kick. like back up the kick with the sub.
from 3.19 it gets quite nice. just play with ya levels abit... mix is preter sharp tho!

bradicle- its interesting... the chinese melody is abit to forward... reverb it abit, or maybe widen it abit. like the sub, but its too constant. really hate the way ya filthed it up... way to dissonant like. The first mid bass sound was the best... then it turned to shit. the other this i noticed is the lack of dynamics... wayyyyy to compressed. Gives the impression that tha track is to flat like.

debaser1- intro was algood, just wonder why ya chuck so much things into ya mix when it drops... was nicer when it had more space, nothing wrong with ya mix. I couldn't bang my head to this tho... maybe its just to much for me??

& heres what im working on at the mo. something different like. we just lost 29 minors on the west coast in NZ, this is dedicated to them... more of an emotional track like!!

Thanks for the feedback brov. How would you suggest adding more weight to the drop? I have had a few other people tell me that the drop doesnt quite set off as well. As far as switching up the patterns, do you think different drums or synth patterns? This is is what the track sounded like prior to me reworking it:

Soundcloud

On this version, I had the drums snap into breaks for the last couple minutes of the track.
WIP - Feedback would be appreciated

safe, theres no low mids or sub at your drop. its your kick and mid range synth. so it sort of sounds empty. your old version has that boomy kick so its sounds fuller.

i meant switch up the synth pattern for variation. nothing wrong with switching up the drums though.

Hey guys I'm new on this forum, I was hanging around Idmforums these times, and I would like to know what do you think about my productions. Some of my tracks are not really dubstep, but the one I choose here is very inspired by Burial, Mount Kimbie and 2652:

http://soundcloud.com/shcaa/the-lighthouse

Don't hesitate to criticate, even hardly if you hate it ^^ I really need feedbacks to progress anyway! And has I live in London and I am completely influenced and dependent of the London underground scene, I thought it would be more appropriate to feedbacks on these forums too, as you would probably understand it better ^^
