I'm rating more and more US dubstep these days
the new DJG release on transistor is among the best plates of the year and definitely better than anything that's come out of the US before
US doing big tings, but of course with the absolute wealth of producers the UK is still running tings!

yeah it's just not a relevant argument. It's like arguing "who has the best basketball players? US or UK?"
In the grand scheme of sports, basketball is pretty low on priorities in the UK. It's not that the UK isn't capable of making great basketball players, it's just that their culture doesn't put much emphasis on basketball. Their athletes are more interested in football or cricket.
in the US dubstep isn't the same thing socially that it is in the UK
While the demand is different, does that effect the sounds coming out of an area?
I would think that It would, but I would also like to think that the sounds coming out of an area are a product of culture (American Culture produces a certain sound)
Different countries have different interpretations of music, so when bring dubstep to a different country, they mix the elements that are native to them into dubstep. Like pop in different countries sounds completely different in each country, even though it all fits in the same genre of pop.

Dubstep is NOT from UK. If you study the stylistic origins of many popular music it all traces back to Africa. Almost all styles in the west are from Africa. Even Blues or Jazz, how this all developed into all this subgenres of electronic music is because of the blacks that were brought to the west to be slaves. Even drum n bass, is actually a sped up version of Motown music drum styles. So yeah dubstep's roots aren't in UK, its from jungle which originated from Reggae, which originated from Africa.
Hope this clears any doubt and all the pointless arguments.

every dubstep show ive been too in Philly, Pittsburgh, B-more, New york, and D.C. there has been people glow sticking and drugs haha. Shit I even glowstick from time to time when im in the right state of mind. I listen to More UK producers but i am really digging a lot of the new American producers

Same thing. The roots may not be UK but the eventual sound made from them is, it's called evolution ...

There's a hell of a lot more coming out of the UK, so you'll probably get better tracks overall coming out of the UK, but I like the median level from the US better. Part of that is probably just what I grew up with, being from the US. A lot of old gangsta rap influence and fidget house influence.
I'm just thrilled dubstep has taken off in the US. As someone who was (until around 2003) attempting to make a living DJing speed garage, then UKG and breaks / breakstep, then grime, I'm glad that one iteration has finally taken off and that I get to see DJs I like more than once every few months. But it hasn't taken off so much that it will kill things either. I mean, I once heard Katy on a Mission on a mainstream radio station, but that's pretty much the only dubstep I've ever heard in a semi-mainstream outlet.
And yeah I guess you're right about the evolution part, the 'sound' of dubstep, most could agree with 'evolved' within UK, a lil' misunderstanding that's all, don't hate
But hey who cares, most importantly we all love dubstep, and happy 2011 guys
