Don't hesitate to criticate, even hardly if you hate it ^^ I really need feedbacks to progress anyway! And has I live in London and I am completely influenced and dependent of the London underground scene, I thought it would be more appropriate to feedbacks on these forums too, as you would probably understand it better ^^
feedback on three tracks before you post.

seriously, read shit first.

nice 1 for the feedback, with the bass im still trying to get it to the sweetspot where it has enough weight and enough presance on all systems, im putting in a synth line soon so the bassline being simple will be fine

with your track i like it man just seems like it needs a tad more going on in it, the midrange stab (kryptic minds esque) sound is wicked, how did you make it?

@cheeky - think your reverb on the intro lead synth is a little off putting. love the rhythm after the drop. just needs something to kick in the drop a bit more. like a beat of silence or something before hand or whatever. ha. writing this as i listen through. the half time section is jokes. maybe ease off of the falling synth line, i like it, but its just every 4 bars. ha really, like this. think a lot of its there already, will benefit from a good mixing.

Upon further listening I think I would like to hear more kick in the lower frequencies. would really help to give it some more punch to that bassline that kind of fallows the kicks. Otherwise it is a pretty slick track maybe turn the sub down a tiny bit too. Also so down with that neuro reecy thing at the end pretty cool.

Here is a fixed version of my drop and reworked bassline, ignore the vocal sample at the end ha no idea if that's gonna stay but I kinda like it.

nice track...i like the reverb layer...everything sounds pretty clean....what are you using to make dis?

i like this beat, if you added some more mid range bassline this could end up a real banger....everything sounds clean as far as levels, and the frequencies being hit by all the drum sounds, just needs a driving bass imo....but very good.

marshy wrote:DJdopejack - The first thing that jumped out at me was how harsh that rimshot (or whatever you're using) is, it hits either side of the snare? Sounds like it could do with some reverb, or change the sample completely. Good work though!

Lordbid - Alright bid, long time no speak mate! You're coming along well. Intro is nice, i'd perhaps whack a bit more of a low cut on the bass flirting in and out though. Great drop, perhaps get the hi hats shuffling slightly more. For the brostep i usually get a nice ride and have that playing constantly throughout. You don't want it high enough in the mix so that you can really make out what it is, but i always find it helps my hi-hats move aswell as fill out the song. Doctor P does it a lot but pretty extremely.

Phigure - Literally wouldn't change a thing pal. Is it actually a drone underneath everything or is it just the reverb filling everything in?

KingNoble - Got the making of a top track. Just need to work on the mixdown, not a fan of the snare either. All the synthwork seems to be sitting alright, it's just the distorted wobbles that need some work. Would like this when it's finished!

Right got two tracks for you to critique, first is a remix of Vaski - Jelly. Only been on this for 2 hours or so but it's 2:30am at the moment so i'm going fucking mental trying to work on it. No intro, but this is what i've got so far. Think i'm going to hate the sub when i wake up. Really like the drum pattern though!

Soundcloud

Not actually a fan of the original but i think that helps sometimes;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLe2n0CrBYc

This is a track i've been sitting on for a month or so, really want to get it finished.

Soundcloud

Really at loss for how to progress it past the offbeat guitar, and any kind of intro.

Haven't sat down and attempted any major mixing so far, but any help with that would be good. I know both are pretty quiet at the moment.
@ marshy marshy slowdown - nice track good dub/reggae feel, nice sub....i like mixing really sub driven tracks with other more mid ranged bass tracks always sounds interesting...i go for tracks that are smasher, as well as some more eclectic stuff just to have variety, and this is definitely a mixable track...good job.

@sankablaam i like the track but i still feel like it needs something else to drive it on, like a nice hat variation. i know your going for a minimal style track but it still needs that something, also the kick seems too loud/over powering to the rest of the track. apart from that the tracks wicked

1 more thing how did you make the stab at like 1.30? it sounds really good

@kojent- woah that start woke me up. Some nice noises aroundin the intro, metallic structure and the sample is really well integrated. The big sweep ups sound good with the white noise and such, but maybe building it up ever single 8 bars isnt so good, i keep expecting it to drop! The drop when it comes is suitably crazy, lots of noise everywhere, however it's quite unclear, the noises all kingd of blend into each other, perhaps cut few more frequencies and add a sub underneath to give it a real punch on a system. Very nicely produced anyway, good track.

@Cheeky- I love the snare in the intro as well as the little bleeps coming round. The low synth which comes in is lacking a bit of body, maybe add some reverb on it? Then big build up, nicely done into the breakdown. And then into 4X4 wasn't expecting that, sounding a bit disjointed, the beat doesn't really flow, all very angular on the beat like, kind of marchstyle, maybe stick some of the hats in a syncopated place. The track feels a bit empty, it's got a really nice feel, but maybe you need a pad in the background or a sub below it to give it definition. However, 3:30 is siiickkk, you need to to bring them congas in earlier!

@sirminius- really like the feel of this one, beat and bass fit together really well. The midrange is a tad grating, perhaps turn it down a little and play with some different patterns like. try tripletting it or something, moving notes halfway through. Don't be afraid to just have a stripped back beats and bass sound, when it's produced as well as your songs you can pull it off.

and this is me

ps. you can leave your feedback in this format so it doesnt take up half a page someone leaving feedback

safe, ill have a look at some hat loops, maybe get my midi hat on.

the stabs a reese type thing, with an envelope on the filter to open it up. verb and comp etc etc.

Aright then, I haven't posted much since i joined awhile ago. I'm not a newcomer to production but I recently am starting to push myself to share my music and see what everyone has to offer, as I have yet to really do that.

@cheeky: i liked the drop "tease" towards the beginning, maybe the kick after the drop could have a little more low end to stand out form the snare. I thought maybe the hat in the beginning could have used a little variation with swing or playing around with velocity. I also feel the half time section could have used some transition, but then again these are woks in progress so you might have planning to add that in.

@AFresh: thought the wobble might have been too muddy in the first 1:00 of the song. I'd also try and suggest changing up the speed of the wobblz a little more in the beginning so as not to sound as generic. To make it stand out I'd try and carve out the frequences that really "punch" and perhaps push those up while cutting down the rest of it. Also maybe try adjusting the osciallators in whatever synth you're using.

@JBE: I really really liked this track, your remix that is. Clean production and love the swingy drums and the vocals are well done. This is nitpicking, but maybe, just a little more variation on the drum patterns/snare placement throughout. but really thats mostly cuz I'm trying to give you some constructive criticism and not just lush over it.

Here's a track I've been working on for about a week or so. Looking forward to any comments/criticism. Just made a soundcloud after producing for a long time. Feel free to be as positive or as negative as you want. :t:

just thought, you could just add some static/footsteps/rain sounds all sorts of atmospheres in the background, they would probably work

cheeky - like the bassline and atmospherics, beat feels a little flat and straightforward could be a bit more interesting. like the switch to half time, definitely keeps the listener interested.
samkablam - really like the bassline and atmospherics, but it does need a little more driving it forward. like just some straightforward hats at least. also the kick feels a little too powerful for such a delicate mix, maybe EQ some of the mid out or chose a slightly softer sample. vocal sample is sick too
mta7388 - really like synths in intro, lovely sub and synths in main section... but the midrange bass bits don't work at all, in my opinion. and the snare needs EQing it's a bit too submerged. if you left out the midrange bass bits (like at 0:59) it'd sound lovely.
gdavies - nice atmospherics, like the way you bring the percussion in the background in and out. think the beat as a whole needs a little work, i like the disjointed feel but it doesnt quite fit together quite if you get me. cool vibe though man

here's something i spent a few hours on this evening, let me know what you think..:

hey everyone, not sure if this is the right place to put this but I'm starting to learn Ableton and I would love to produce dubstep and unique tracks that mix genres.

@hutyluty track isnt really my style. i like that sample where they almost say something though! thats clean as fuck!

@mta7388- epic track dude. you also got a sick ass vocal sample. percussion is interesting too. the little bass wobble part in the beginning is never brought back??

@oscarhenson- to my ear it sounds as though you should heighten the pitch of the clap. but i guess thats just preference. this song has great feel though.

heres my track.

@spraypaint: i think you could turn the volume down on the hats a tad bit, you should try getting a groove going on with the drums/bass and I think you could do some fine tuning on your basses! good job, nice!

@Debaser1: i don't quite get the intro :? but for the rest, i think you could maybe cross over to a little more electroish synths and it would fit with the tune a little better, around 1:30 reminds me of jack beats but only if it was a lil deeper! and the drums kinda seem just a little bit fast (to me at least) and I think the volume levels in the percussion could be a little closer to one another, sick !

@:Norvege: I think you should add more elements into the intro as the drums get a little repetitive, i think some of your wobbles may be out of time also, i like how you mix up your sounds every once in a while however i think you should maybe put blending/shifting sounds that lead into each new element (make sense?)

@oscarhenson: I like the into, but it seems like it takes a little while to get to the drop but thats not bad! really digging the percussion, and the delays :p chill song also really like the sub! good job !

ok heres my wip, didn't have time to work on it until today because I had a math test (Final) to study for! btw got only 3 wrong :P anyways here it is, please take it a listen and criticize! :h:
I plan on recording some guitar leads where the main synth melody is, kinda curios as I think it may fit in nice !
