Your twisting my point there mate. I never said their music was simple per se. My point was that there bass sounds are a little "thin", still really interesting basses but they do regurgitate the same patches over and over...this probably lends to their signature sound though. I also said their drums were a bit simplistic, That's just my opinion. I mean I have valid grounds for it, I still like a lot of their tracks and I'm still a massive douche for writing that OP, BUT i know I am. I tell it how it is y'see, even if it's self-depricating.

I feel most people who moan about brostep are the ones who try so hard but cant replicate their idols, so they get frustrated and go on these forums and moan about how 'basic' the sub genre is despite the fact they cant even do it themselves. Instead of giving the producers praise they go and attack them saying their bass sounds are recycled, or their drums arnt good enough. The simple fact is some people need to stop bitching to spend more time on their production skills rather than the forums. No offence Jay but i dont think you have a leg to stand on judging by your tracks man, you cant hate on the bro-step scene when your own bro-step doesn't even match up to the standard! Ahh dear, if you dont like it, produce somthing else man, work your frustrations into somthing usefull by maybe giving up replicating and making your OWN sounds, dont waste your time making waste threads like this one. Dubstep doesnt have to be 'bro-step', 'deep' or 'chilled', there's so many different sounds out there....better still, make your own! :W:
Thats, bollocks mate, the majority of people who moan about 'Brostep' generally hate the sound, especially those god awful screechy whiney ones that seem to have the same effect as running your finger nails down a chalk board.

Its not all bad, but some of it is just sooo, sooo bad.
No, this, best post of thread.

But, unfortunately, doesnt apply to Jaydot, corpu5 was right there.

My comment was aimed at the, first sentence and a half. Did i misunderstand that part, did he mean cant replicate their idols in general, or their idols in Brostep?

If that's true then thats fine man, i dont really lurk the forums as much as i used to, im just saying i've seen a fair few people in the past blasting bro-step producers and their techniques, whilst having soundcloud signatures of their very own bro-step? They say stuff like 'im not gonna make mid range any more its lame' and lo and behold a month later they have a new soundcloud signature and it's the same old same old mid range stuff that doesnt even touch the likes of datsik or whoever. I just think it's hypocritical, that was my main point

You're definitely right, the distinction being made was simply that those individuals don't make up 100% of the "brostep hate" crowd.

Personally, I legitimately can't stand the sound of the large majority of it.

Excision, for example, is singlehandedly responsible for exposing me to the genre with his Darkside Dubstep and Rottun Dubstep mixes... Without him, and his music, I would have never discovered the likes of DMZ, Distance, Vex'd, Skream, Kode9, etc, and subsequently never heard literally the hundreds of other artists I now enjoy listening to, in genres ranging from dubstep, to future garage, to funky. Excision's tunes like Do It Now and No Escape are as awesome as they were when I first heard them several years ago.

However, there's brostep artists like Doctor P, Funtcase, and the whole UKFDubstep bunch of producers that literally just specialize in making sounds that are legitimately unpleasant to the ear. It's just this stupid sort of gimmick involving one producer trying to make a tune that's packed with more obnoxious sounds than the last, with a bunch of morons on Youtube spouting "filthier than __________". That's all it is; a silly gimmick. Nowadays, these producers seem to make up the majority of what one would call brostep.

You can't tell me than anyone actually finds this to be what one would call music, let alone dubstep.

Like Echoi said, it's not necessarily all bad, but far too much of it is focused simply on obnoxious screeches rather than subby, intersting music.

DubbaJohnny makes some good stuff. Sounds all relatively the same... but his basses are nice. I think massive is the cause of all this "broness"

If we're talking about UKF, I don't care how he rinses his formula, Flux pavilion is pretty sick. Sound design is really all very simple too so there's less "GOMG" factor over his tech and more GOMG factor that he's writing real music, something that can be said for few others in that scene.

Brostep is cool for the first 10 minutes or so. After that it just gets annoying to me. And i have noticed this as its being thrown more often into mixes.

The OP has a right to his own opinion, but saying that here is like talking shit about religion in a church.

But the pot calling the kettle black- cracks me up.

I think people are continually missing the point here and I have to keep repeating myself.

In a nutshell:

-They're NOT bad producers, far from it. I just said there's better producers at that sound.

-If you'd read the whole thread I'm not hating on brostep.... so how I can be a hypocrit I really don't know.

-I even came out and sorta understood what they're all about and basically acknowledged that I was a little stupid and yet people are STILL hating on me (at least I had the guts to say what I thought)

-People like Corpu5 saying "well yours doesn't even match up to the standard" is like saying the sky is blue. Talk about stating the obvious duh
