Oh dear... "dubstep" sample cd

Was bound to happen sooner or later.

All it does is help the "dubstep by numbers" producers churn out more formulaic shite... just like the numerous "jungle", "house" and "trance" cd's out there.

Might be a bit unfair of me seeing as I aint even checked the sounds yet, but come on!! Use ya nuggin!

Dubstep from Loopmasters is a brand new Download Pack featuring over 170MB of brand new beats, bass, synths and Sound FX for new wave musicians, producers and DJs looking to incorporate some authentic Dubstep samples into their productions!

The term 'dubstep' was coined by Ammunition Promotions and first used on an XLR8R magazine cover that featured Horsepower Productions. It gained full acceptance with the Dubstep Allstars Vol 1 CD (Tempa) mixed by DJ Hatcha.

In 2007 dubstep producers are increasingly absorbing dub reggae sonic aesthetics - sub bass, reverb and delay - to forge a distinct path away from associate genres like drum & bass, house and breaks. Using different rhythmic patterns like the 2step and halfstep beat patterns (yet deployed in the same tempo range) dubstep can create senses of differing momentum within the same DJ set. At best, dub reggae sonic aesthetics also allow a broad range of new musical influences to be introduced with a sense of coherence.

The Pack was created by Toni Ann Gray of Bulletproof Breaks, and includes 15 atmosphere pads, 48 Dubstep Basslines, 30 Drumloops, 13 Sfx Hits, 17 Melody Loops and 50 Dubstep Drum Hits.

Also included are RMX compatible Rex2 Samples for all the Loops and 22 Patches ready to play in Kontakt, Halion, Reason NNXT and SFZ.

48 Dubstep Basslines, 30 Drumloops, 13 Sfx Hits, 17 Melody Loops

i never got why anyone would use premade loops with any sort of melody from a sample cd. seems so pointless and boring to make tunes like that. the fx hits could be interesting if they were any good but only 13?? where are the bad bwoy rasta vocals?!

sounds pretty shit really. how much is this thing anyway?

I think it's less the source of the sample and more the creative application of the sample that makes its application successful. Nothing wrong with a good sample CD. This one seems a bit more paint by numbers tho, admitedly.

yeahhhh this seems pretty fucked.

samples cds/packs have their place tho yeah? you cant expect to find every sound you want and have it be sample-able...

i dont really like them tho just coz i dont know what to do when too much shit is thrown at me at once. i like to find my own samples if only coz it means i will remember what it sounds like when i see it in the library. plus makes my tunes sound distinctive.

this is pretty irritating tho coz dubstep has always been anti-formula. plus the drum loops...dont really want to hear that exact halfstep ting anymore...plus rthymic originality is pretty requisite to make an interesting tune in 2007.

How DARE they. Don't they know that real dubstep producers code their own software and build their own synthesizers out of old VCR parts? Anyone who buys their gear in a store is just cheating. Well, maybe if you erase all the presets as soon as you get it... Whoops, gotta go - I need a new snare sound, off to the corner to mic myself banging my head against a stop sign. Forward!!!!

As regards to this thread, it's all about buying hardcore and techno sample CDs and using them to make dubstep.

I agree with you about the value of sample CD's. Its where all my one shot drum samples come from.

But I would never use a sample CD for anything synth related. If someone wants instant atmosphere then I'd suggest Absynth. It might not be the easiest synth to use but it sounds "atmospheric" and you get more than 15 sounds.
