Interesting... Could you make one with 4 ins, and as many Outs as poss? (4+). Market it for the computer musician who doesn't record multi-track drums or anything like that, but would like to use external mixers/hardware... for bridging software to hardware. That would rock, 'cause I find it hard to find an interface that has lots of outs, but not many ins. This would also be good as a DJ interface. Would also need it to be mac compatible (coreaudio)

yeah this is what I have been looking for also!
I need atleast 10 xlr/1/4" outputs & 4 in puts.
then I can run my track thru my analogue mixer & then back in via 4 subgroups!

I recently got the tractor scratch duo, it comes with the audio 4 DJ. <- this is chea as... 4 ins & outs..
96kHz/24bits.

Finding a decent interface has become my mission... saffire 40 maybe?

No offence but if your going to be using top quality components it seems like it just can't be hella cheap.
On a side note if it were in a sweet wooden enclouser with metal knobs, and with a sweet vacuum tube sticking out the top with the leds for the bitches I would definetly buy one...Although I doubt it could possibly within my price range, even without the tube.

it's really not

i already worked it all out; even just buying an order of only 200 of each component required + housing + packaging + everything else it works out to 50-60

the dsp functionality that it's going to have. like i said, i don't exactly know what yet, but it'll be awesome.

other than that though, it's really just going to be the fact that it's hella cheap
I've got this idea to make awesome music, I'm going to be a superstar DJ.

Hope you can see my point.

Without product you've got nothing.

of course, but even without the planned dsp goodies it would still be a high quality audio interface with more power far for cheaper than other stuff.

That said I would still need to see videos etc before making a purchase though.

On a side note, make it look damn sexy, that's priority one. I'm a sucker for nice looking kit. Also black/red as a colour theme would fit nicely with the rest of my studio...just sayin ;)
Yep,black and red would be great hahah

what you should do is make an option for i/o expansion or ports
that way you have a cheap interface, but the option to add on more i/o later on
as far as looks ffs people who gives a shit unless it sounds good and runs solid
if the shit is low cost and reliable, good sounding and low latency it can be neon pink with hearts and unicorns on it for all i care

oh and these aren't gonna be cheap wavesolders live breakinger are they? :6:

i will never stoop down to the level of behringer. ever.

expansion idea is actually pretty sweet! perhaps just make it a barebones central device for even cheaper, and on top of that, IOs can be customized and purchased however the customer wants. it always pisses me off when i've got an audio interface with a bunch of shit that i never use (never used s/pdif in my life...). nice one!

i like the usb hub idea as well... obviously it'll raise the price of the whole thing though... shouldn't be too much though if i decide to include it

I just dont understand how you are going to get a low latency. Ideal latency is 6-10 thousandth of a second, youd need a pretty well designed architecture to roll that surely?
