collaboration resources?

Post by lowahn » Wed Dec 08, 2010 12:50 pm

Hey guys :Q:

So I'm finally getting to a point in my production where I think I could add some personal style to tracks. Granted, only been doing it a few months, but I'm feeling it out  . What I was wondering, is if there are any good resources out there for people looking to collaborate on projects from an objective-based perspective; for example, If there are very experienced users who don't mind sharing ideas/tips/suggestions (more for fun), as oppose to people looking to collaborate for releases.

Anyway I attempted to utilize my googlefu for this, and did not pull up too much. A quick search of the forums didn't give me any great hits either; so I was curious, anyone know of any places that specialize in this stuff? A forum/web page/thread or anything like that? If it matters at all, I'm an Ableton user with a 50gb dropbox I can share ^^.

Apologies in advance if I missed any glaringly obvious posts about this; I try to find this stuff before asking these questions -w- Really appreciate the help, guys.

You don't need anything more than a way to communicate with whoever you're collabing with, ie., aim/msn/facebook chat/skype and your daw, a dropbox is great saves you a lot of aggrivation sending parts back and forth, but if you want to work with somebody see what daw they're using if theyre using the same then just start a new project and send it to them when you think you've done your thing, then have them send it back when they've done theirs and just keep the process up until you both think the tune is finished, if you're using different daws then just swap stems. If you see somebody you think you could make a good track with just send them a message, whether it's over soundcloud or here or myspace or facebook, doesn't really matter. Most people reply fairly quickly if they're not totally swamped with stuff already. I can't really think of any 'resources' as such for people doing collabs,

Great advice, and thank you. I'll do just that :D:
