I disagree with this, you can get all flavours of dubstep, sure the old school sound was very much in the bottom right hand corner but a lot of so called 'brostep' feels very yellow/red/orange etc and quite vibrant to me.
For the people that don't know what the fuck we're on about look up 'synaesthesia'. I think the idea is that everyone has it to *some* degree but for others it is much more prevalent. Personally I get very vivid colours and shapes when I hear sounds/music. When I produce I normally think in terms of the picture I'm making rather than actually listening per se...dunno if that's weird or not but yeah..

nah, my original post was a little blunt I must admit, and Paravais summed it up well. No hallucinagens needed. Not so much to do with seeing colour as feeling it. I'm not going to be all pretentious and wanky saying I have synaesthsia but a lot of the stuff I listen to, to me at least, resides in the bottom right- and yeah, like it's been said a lot of the midrange stuff is neon reds/yellow. I know some people will think it's all bollocks but I still maintain there's a valid point to it in regards to the theory

@ jack the lad...profit isn't part of dubstep theory that's just a result of tunnel vision that ignores the real reason we make music....because we fucking love it!

From what I've been reading, you pretty much have to rape your baby sister with your father's frozen turd. Something like that, maybe french kiss your decaying grand mother with your uncle's severed head. I don't know exactly, I get a little confused. Was hoping a major player in the scene could clear that up for me.

In some bizzare way this made sense to me the instant I saw it...

When I read this, I thought the top left corner is awfully close to the bottom right corner. And then I didn't know wtf you were talking about.
