DUBPRESSURE 5TH BIRTHDAY! (DECEMBER 10TH)

After relaunching at LIFE back in October with the likes of Youngsta, Heny G, T_! and a host of Dubpressure regulars...

Dubpressure continues its residency at LIFE and is back this December to celebrate 5 years at the top as Brighton's original Dubstep event.

With original Skull Disco co-founders on the same bill in Brighton since the earliest days of Dubpressure, this is a line-up that you do not want to miss............


SHACKLETON (SKULL DISCO)

Co-founder of Skull Disco, Shackleton’s unconventional take on big basslines and complex beats doesn’t fit into easy categories and that’s how it’s going to stay. Shackleton has been carving out his own brand of eclecticism on Skull Disco releases so far with intricate, snaking percussion, hypnotic melodies, seriously deep bass lines and dubwise sensibilities.

Bristol-based Laurie ‘Appleblim’ Osborne has had a long history in the music biz. From the early days as a band member of the Monsoon Bassoon, Appleblim soon cottoned to the emerging sound of dubstep and, with Shackleton, began to craft strange tracks that seemed to reside at the edge of the genre. Brittle and metallic, they became celebrated alongside his Skull Disco labelmate’s equally as off-kilter efforts for their otherworldly characteristics.

NECTA SELECTA
Necta Selecta has been involved in the bass music scene since very early on. His Nopalumbo warehouse parties in Stoke Newington circa 2003 were one of the first places that the emerging dubstep DJs were booked outside of FWD>> with Plastician, Youngsta, Chef, and Geeneus all playing to a packed out warehouse full of ravers. Part of the original Skull Disco crew with Shackleton and Appleblim, he was resident DJ at the Skull Disco parties, mixing up grime, dubstep and oldskool.
