Re: Profit
Honest to goodness best advice? Make music because you love it not because you want to profit from it. Almost every single artist/group/project/product out there suffers when they start trying to make money instead of doing it for the love of it. If you love it, and work hard enough, money will come.
But as people have said, you gotta manifest good music before you can manifest money in this industry. It's also about having the right connections, but they won't matter unless you have good music first.

How to make money off dubstep
1. Give yourself a badass name with the word 'dubstep' in it so you get mad hits on youtube. Probably should have the name of a mountain in it too. How about Dubstep Killa Manjaro? Thats pretty badass, and Kilimanjaro is bigger than Mount Kimbie and Mount Eden combined.
2. Start remixing popular/classic songs, and by 'remix' i mean the following steps: First, put a big kick on 1 and a bigger snare on 3. Second, download a wobbly bass sample and paste it over the original. Filter out the low frequencies in your bassline; they don't come through on laptop speakers or earbuds and that's all people use to listen to music anyway. Also, your bassline will stand out more if its in a different key than the rest of the song, so make sure you do that too.
3. Start spamming your remixes all over the internet. They should get popular really fast if you've followed steps 1 and 2. Make fake accounts to leave positive comments on your songs, something along the lines of "FILTHIER THAN SHOVING YOUR SISTER UP YOUR OTHER SISTERS TWAT!!!"
4. Now that you're internet royalty, it's time to start booking gigs and making money. I know what you're thinking... "But I can't even DJ, let alone perform live music!" Don't worry, all you have to do is hide behind a laptop and play songs off iTunes. Be sure to play solitaire or minesweeper at the same time so you look focused on what you're doing.
5. At this point you can consider making original music, but its not recommended. If you decide to go this route though, your best bet is to mash together a bunch of loops from sample packs and maybe add a massive preset. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right?
And there you go, the 5 point plan for getting rich off dubstep. If you're not filthy rich in 6 months than there's something wrong with you.
