I left comments on some people's soundclouds. I'll try to get to some more tracks later when I get off work.

This is something I just finished yesterday. Then again I don't know if I'm really finished with it......or if I'll ever be finished with anything for that matter. This is a tad bit different. Then again nothing I make is really your typical dubstep, but it's fun to make and I enjoy it.

@JBE - one of the track I'd call dubstepish (but thats nothing wrong about it), one of tracks which can bring up some emotions due to melodies used, I cannot tell anything production wise as I am on my laptop speakers maybe someone else will

@ JBE, I like it, though i'm not sure about the last synth, and the snare i find is a bit heavy for the tune. Its a nice tune though well done.
@TEKN, I like the drop, and the percussion is nice. Sounds like you fused 8 bit and heavy wobbles and its worked out, nicely done.
@ninthy4, this is a funky tune, loving the reggae chord stabs in there, though the crazy WAAAAAAWOOOOOAOA isn't my kinda thing :P

@finji: Nice chill song man. I should change the snare a bit because it sounds kinda 'standard'. Don't get me wrong, i like the track a lot! Like the mysterious sounds in de background, and espacially the bass ;) Good job m8

So here's mine.. It's a free download btw ;)

JBE/ blue planet - melody sounds prety good, the pain pipes sound oudns a bit central but i like the sound. that lil hat is lovely dancing around in the background. its a lil muddy after it drops round the low mid area. love the vibes tho man nice stuff. that final lil synth at the end is a bit thin and goes a touch cheesey in patches. but not bad at all.

finji/ im bored of this intro matey lol, percussion sounds a bit to "fake" and dry. you need to ad a little reverb to them. melodies and that are nice mate but jsut needs a good fookin mixdown n its a winner.

jasper/ that mid bas synth is eating all your perc up. sounds like there is too many mid low mids in there n the sub bass doesnt come through that well on my headphones. needs more different sounds in there, the melo is a bit flat and it just needs more different soudns its just empty. needs work mate, but going in the right direction and i like the bpm.

Ive already had a new one up this month but ive had this one in the bag for a bit and fell for it again. its called The portrait, enjoy n let me know what you think!

Jasper, not my kind of tune but I enjoyed the mellow bits around 3:45. The sample work leading out if the intro sounded good also.

@JBE - There is nothing wrong with your tune other than the mid-range bass gets a bit muddy (from the low end pads). The snare is perfect. The pads and melody are beautiful and the lead synth an the middle / end are also just fine. EQ the pads and bass (cutting out overlaps, don’t boost anything) and all will be well.

JBE: love that bell sound at the beginning really mellowing stuff man big up, mids do need bit more clarification but thats nitpicking imo
Finjie: way it creeps in is real nice, theres a tad distortion on the lower mids thats eating into abit more than it should, otherwise a real uplifting tune props
JasperVC: I agree with what others were saying about the percussion, proper nice take on it though i can see myself letting loose if i was out
RatRace: that was large, the structure is on the only thing i can think of is that opening synth needs to be brightened up doesnt sit with the mix too good imo

@Nibz.

Loving the bass sound. But I'm not sure if it's just my sound system, but I think the track could really benefit from lifting the snare in the mix. It kinda sounds like in a party full of bass, the snare is the weedy kid in the corner too afraid to dance. That snare needs to be throwing down in the middle of it.

@ +3

Fantastic groove. Love the minimalism. Could listen to that pretty happily all day. Just seems a bit quiet. Maybe pass it through a density increasing compressor? The dynamics are wonderful though, and the kick sound.

@Lman

Intro is gold. Sounds wonderful. Drums sound excellent, except the kick's punch seems to disappear when the bass gets heavy, but that's just preference. I'd put a subtle compressor and sidechain the bass lead synth to punch the kicks more. Some superb bass too. The whole sound is nice and thick. Love it.

Time for some cheese

I'm just starting from a rock/acoustic/alternative background into making some dubstep and house. Steadily learning some tricks. Gettin there...

Hi, guys!
I finished my first dubstep-track ever yesterday. It's a remix of a death metal bands song. What do you think? Be gentle.
Beware! It's alot of death metal vocals. :roll:

This is my first ever track every completed. FEEDBACK MUCH APPRECIATED. There are probably some kinks to fix here and there and possible better transitions but I am happy with what I have come up with and think there is a whole hell of a lot of potential.

Thanks. I leave my tunes with -3 db headroom and only Normalize for Soundcloud/Myspace, etc. “One of these days” I plan on having them all Mastered to industry standards but for the time being, I enjoy the dynamics and don’t plan on squashing them for volume.

@ElSonido
Nice production, but I miss low frequency. Where is the bass?

@Snellvillain7
I think you have to work with som EQ and levels. And the transitions at 1:00, 1:37 and 2:10 didn't work for me at all. Keep it up, tho. Practice makes Master!

@+3

Very good point. The dynamics really make that track into something fantastic.

@ Dodstep

I'll get onto that. I thought the sine bass was a little low in the mix. I'll kick it up and see how it sounds. I'm trying to avoid muddying it up too much. Plus, down here in West Aus I'm trying to get Dubstep into local clubs, but there aren't many ears here quite ready for proper bass. So there will be some midrange cack while it spreads here. Then bam, drop some Mala and Coki.

Did you try putting the sine bass one octave down? I can hear it, but its up in he mid-area.

I would btw really appreciate some feedback on my track(in sig and some posts up), peeps.

Yeah, but I think something's clashing with it. I'll give it another look. It might need a second layer. Thanks man.

And Dodstep, interesting genre combination.

The dubstep track sounds really good. Snare and kick are great. I'd personally opt for a drum pattern with a bit more going on, but it wouldn't suit the track. Synth sounds are great. Nice and full. Overall, it's creative and well produced. I love a bit of metal, but it might take a couple of listens to acclimatise to that style of vocal on a dubstep track.

@JBE Awesome track btw, really chilled, not sure if there is any sub since I'm listening to it on my headphones. Nice synth work going on, feels really calm and chilled out, would be great to smoke a spliff and listen to it. :)

@finji Ahh another chilled out track. the drums are damn good got a groove which is always great. Love the synth and what I think is the bass or maybe another synth either way they both work together and its a great track.

Heres a track I've just finished.

@ ElSonido
Thanks for the overall good feedback! Really appreciate it! I know it's alot of deathmet-vocals, but that's "my thing". The word "Død" means dead/death in norwegian, so the whole thing about the Dødstep-project is about mixing death metal vocals with dubstep. I've teamed up with a death metal vocalist and we're gonna start producing, but the tracks will probably not contain as much vocals as in Black Venom. I actually think we can get more metalheads to appreciate dubstep in that way. It would be awesome to do live performances too. (:
Again, thanks!
