Good post. I'd add this: don't believe everything you read on forums. In fact, don't believe much of it. The internet requires no qualifications to partake in the dishing out of information. At least 30-40% of what you read on your average "dance music production forum" is either total bullshit or at least pretty bad advice. Unfortunately, when you're just starting out there's no way of distinguishing truth from fiction; that's just something else you have to learn yourself from experimentation (and/or more "formal" learning - books, courses, a good mentor etc).
