Speedcore is like, the hardest genre in the world to make properly. 99.999999999999999% is utter fucking shit, but when it's good, it's breathtaking. Especially the kind influenced by 20th century avant-garde compositions.

The Hangars Liquides label has released some of the best shit ever.

First half of it is just repetitive hard kicks going 1000 miles per hour (though the groove is good), but the second half is melodic bliss.

Aye, this isn't so bad I guess, get rid of those kicks though.

"its the one type of music that i dont think anyone would be pissed about if it was wiped from the face of the earth, apart from maybe a few dutch people...."

So are gabber, speedcore, & Hardstyle the same thing?
i really haven't got a clue, but it does remind me of something that should be playing in the underground rave scene in the matrix :5:

Speedcore is.. kinda meaningless, really. It's pretty much hardcore at around 250 bpm or higher. Doesn't mean I don't love it, though. There's some really fun speedcore out there.

Gabber is characterized by having a certain distorted kick sound and it's about 150 - 220 bpm. Most of it is probably around 180 or something.

Hardstyle is more of an appropriation of hard trance with some mainstream gabber influences that might be present. It's not really related to hardcore music, to be honest. Or at least not from a cultural standpoint. I don't really know anything about it, but I'm not into it either

He he. Gabber and that whole side of more hardcore techno has always been a mystery to me. Music that fast has never really appealed to me.

That kicks and the way they sound make me laugh quite a bit actually. :6:

But yeah, no disrespect to those who understand and appreciate this stuff. I just can't get my head around it! :dunce:

A bit of a bump but I'll try to explain it (I'm Dutch and have listened to hardcore/gabber when I was a little kid and still do on occasion)

So the gabberscene started of somewhere in the mid 90's where the BPM's were much higher than nowadays.

Example of an early hardcore track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MngqTjyye2Q

After the 90's the hardcore sound changed a bit; the BPM's lowered and the kicks got harder.

Another example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fhN4DazDnw

Nowadays the sound is pretty much the same as the vid above and I don't think that it's gonna change in the near future.
It still is very popular in Holland and even abroad (UK, Germany even in the U S of A lol) it's starting to get recognized.

Here's a little taste of how the big party's look like.

That's about it, I hope this info will help you out :D

this are true gabbers :corndance:
It's about dropping a track at the wrong speed, and it sounding better than the real thing.
