hey man,
I really like this one too, but it definately sounds to me more like straight up dub with a little extra synth-action...
I'm also relatively new to the dubstep thing but not to dub, so I'm trying to get a handle on the sound as well....
I feel like somehow a big part of it is the timbre / sound character of the sounds... Traditional dub has always taught me to value a thick/rich sound in the drums, etc.... but I'm thinking maybe in most dubstep this is not really the case?.... it seems like everyone is going for really clean (almost hollow?) sounds... but then that super-cleanliness sounds massive in a giant rig... like free from impurities or something!
dunno.... that's just what I've been thinking about lately, but like I said, I'm also basically a beginner to this sound....
if you get a chance, let me know what you think of my attempt, elsewhere on this page "dead on target" it's called... or check me at http://www.myspace.com/acidmikebeats - got like one straight up dub track on there too...
peace
