Re: IS Dubstep losing its momentum?
lol at people misusing the term hipster
The takeover's just beginning. The hipsters will stay stuck in the past moaning in their dark corners while the rest of the world evolves with the sound. 'Tis a great time to be alive for music.

You are all that is wrong with American youth.NichSmile wrote:
My band is gonna start making "dubcore" music. But we were more of taking a post-hardcore band and then putting in some dubstep.
Also, as far as I have seen, dubstep is just getting going here where I am. Which is North Carolina. So I think it's just gonna get bigger. At least here in the states.

Re: IS Dubstep losing its momentum?
Losing momentum? GAWD no. If anything it's just getting bigger and bigger and bigger. 2010 was a HUGE year for Dubstep. In australia especially, several groups have been pushing the sound. You used to go out once a month, now you can go out every week and hear it.
Is it good dubstep? Depends what you listen to.
Imo the deep side of dubstep is making huge strides last 2-3 years, but especially this year - also the genre is starting to split. 2011 is gonna be massive.

I think lines between genres will just slowly dissapear, tempos will range more throughout tracks (as they already are starting too). People might refer to the vibe and mood of a tune rather than the strict tempo or beat. Plus with technology racing ahead it enables DJs to handle this push more.
Mainstream Drum and Bass DJs happily dropping electro and dubstep in there sets and no-one blinking an eye, wouldnt have happened even a couple of years ago. Plus with the internet and availibility of tunes and info becoming easier and easier people are more clued up and generaly more open-minded (in most cases). Dubstep's just a stepping stone.

Re: IS Dubstep losing its momentum?
this. I think the major change that slowly happens is to forget the strict standards like the 140 bpm tempo and the wobble shit. Crossing music genres has to be the future, and there is one reason to it: it will make you talk about music and not genre ! Long live the Bass music !rhek wrote:I think lines between genres will just slowly dissapear, tempos will range more throughout tracks (as they already are starting too). Just because something is getting big or a bit formulated doesn't mean its suddenly shit. Look at house, that does the same thing over and over yet its still around isn't it. Plenty of good underground stuff being produced and there always will be
