I just didnt want to call them brostep producers or shit like that.
the point is, it's really fucking boring seeing the same posts from some relatively new kid to dubstep and then seeing a choice few posters who post the same derisive shit mocking the original post.

I wish a few people who seem to take particular offense to these posts would just ignore them.

its called elitism, and yes its kinda horrible, but datsik and downlink are some of the primary producers in what they consider to be the downfall of dubstep

all i can reccomend is ignoring it, if your that much of a fan it wont matter what other people think

I know this, and I dont even mean to insinuate I like these producers. they're boring and derivative, and I'd much prefer DMZ any day over them.

Thing is, bitching out new posters on this thread isnt going change the state of affairs in dubstep, it just scares off newbies who might learn a good bit about the genre from this forum, who continue to perpetuate and rate these shit producers because they havent had the chance to be exposed to anything else.

A year ago i started an account on DSF(different one), armed with knowledge of a shitty borgore mixtape and the shambhala mixes, and over the past year I've learned soooooo much about this genre it's unbelievable.

In fact, my first post on this forum was about excision, but luckily I wasnt scared off by a few key assholes on this forum. Without this place, I'd still be listening to filth and shitty electro-house. I credit DSF with developing and refining my taste in electronic music.

In conclusion, this place is great and should not scare off people who might actually learn something here and enrich their taste in music.

these tunes for me just have nothing that i can groove to...

they're too samey same for me...with little musical element (imo). its just these same noises edited slightly each time with a different sample with no depth just loads of shit going on and thats wot makes the people who like it (i assume) move, not the bass driving the groove or the drum pattern.

im sure these producers could make bassweighty stuff but its a shame they dont, so as far as dmz fanboys go...count me in

I think I came here first a few years ago, I mostly just lurked. When I first heard dubstep I just tried to listen to all I could, DMZ, Skream, Benga, Kromestar, Artwork, Boxcutter, Vexd etc. But I also listened to stuff like Excision, Jeekoos, Rumblejunkie, 6Blocc and all that, it took me awhile, but I finally "got" subbass and since then nothing has been the same.
Encouragement is key, but in the end people like what they like and someone on the internet chastising them for their taste probably wont change much

Now that isn't a fair statement. At all. They are very, very good at what they do. The mixes sound professional, they make the sounds they want to make (which any producer can tell you is fucking hard), they make their living through their music... If you think that makes them mediocre, you're wrong. I don't care if you don't like them; that's irrelevant. They're good at what they do.

thats the main point with jump up these days, obviously it wont justify the sound to some people, but thats what i like about it.
im really into building synths these days and when you hear a new datsik track, hes always raising the bar in terms of synths.
however, being a big fan of both sides of dubstep, i kinda wish the canadians spent more time on perfectin sub.
im not sayin there songs have no sub, if they didnt i wouldnt play it out live, but i mean you look at people like Loefah, Ruckspin, Mala, Pinch etc. there subs sit in the backround of the mix but still remain the most prominent, and thats a hard craft to perfect!

This completely. I think it's strange to automatically assume people who like downlink/datsik/6blocc don't know anything about bass though and need educating ... It is possible to like both.

i just really dont feel it, its not even a thing where its like ok its from this guy so i wont listen, i wish i could like it as the majority of my mates are into all that stuff, its just not for me, but im picky as it is lol

im sure sometime they'll make something im into, but as far as that particular sound goes it reminds me of the poor quality dnb thats floatin around, the really easily obtainable sounds n that...imo it takes greater skill to make a badboy sub do some funkyness than a midrange sound

Of course its possible to like both and imo is standard! I mean I make hype dubstep, mix it too but I love the opp side of dubstep too it just doesnt fit into my style. I've been going to DMZ since it started, have alwasy loved the sub but when it comes to going to a club I'm with the kids in that I like it hype but thats only cos I grew up on DnB!

Its the only downside to forums, always tw@ts on here who know it all who just sit in there bedrooms giving it hate!
