Connecting a firewire audio interface.

Am i right in thinking I can connect a firewire audio interface to a ethernet connection on my pc?

I connect my firewire audio interface to the firewire port.

It is a very small connection like from a camcorder or digi camera. don't think it will work in the ethernet port.

Yeah I ain't got a free firewire port, looks like I might need to get a firewire pci card then.
