Professional Opinion for a sick dubstep mix

Post by Weisi » Sun Jan 09, 2011 10:40 pm

Hey, Just finished this sketch and I'd be glad to get some professional opinions and tips for the mixdown as it's the first time I'm dealing with dubstep...

These are the things I'm having problems with;

1 - The Yoyish bass' sound, does anyone has got an idea how to polish it out to not sound that harsh, the EQ'ing is difficult as i don't wanna ruin its rich sound spectrum and the formants
2 - The sub bass.. I'm not sure it's appropriate there.. would be happy to get suggestions!
3 - Reverb - how would you go about that in this one... I need to change the reverb on the mixdown but this is about the level of 'wetness' I thought is good...
4 - any other suggestions are more than welcome..

I just had a listen and the soundcloud version is over limited, Will get proper mastering after the mixdown

Cheers!

1> Dont slate yourself before people listen to a tune. Im not gonna listen... why? Cause you made it sound shit, talking all that trash on it before I even hit play.

2> Post this where it belongs, in the dubs forum or the WIP for feedback thread.

I'm not really asking for feedback as much as I'm asking for production tips, It's the first time I'm posting here so and I though production might be a good start to get tips on my production, but thanks for the carrying and fast reply.

Haha no problem man, but, production feedback is still feedback! Trust me, get in the feedback threads up top, they are alot more centered on producer to producer feedback hen the dubs forum, where youll mostly get normal listeners...

Oh, right.. thanks bro, but though it's hard, I guess I just need some patience and wait until I mix it properly, I'll bring it on to a console and smash the world's face when it's released.
